As of 1983, Virginia has categorized itself for being a Republican state. Recently, Cheryl Turpin, Democrat representative, was elected in 2017. On that specific year, Rocky Holcomb was elected but was defeated in a bid for re-election. Alex Askew has several points that he is passionate about. For example, he believes that education must be strengthened our public education system with proper resources. In addition, he strongly believes that teachers should be paid more than the national average. Healthcare is very essential to Alex as well. He is passionate to provide affordable and quality healthcare and to protect Medicaid expansion. As of the environment, Alex wants Virginia to never worry about breathing polluted air. He wants to make sure legislation is passed to guarantee that coastlines are permanently protected from potential polluters.
