Primero, se creó la Escuela Fiscalizada N 21504 -hoy, institución Educativa Parroquial «San José»- en el año 1937, dirigida por los Padres Agustinos. En 1975, la Cooperativa Agraria de Cerro Alegre gestionó ante el Ministerio de Educación la creación de un Centro Educativo que impartiera Educación Secundaria, autorizándose oficialmente el funcionamiento del Centro Educativo Particular Mixto «San José» de Cerro Alegre por R. En 1982 el Padre José Quintanal Artola, quien desde 1978 era Director, gestionó ante el Ministerio de Educación la conversión del Centro Educativo de Fiscalizado a Parroquial. 1501, de fecha 06-07-82 se reconoce a la Parroquia «Nuestra Señora de la Asunción» de Cerro Alegre como entidad Promotora de la ahora Institución Educativa Parroquial Mixto «San José».

En 1985, cuando los Clérigos de San Viator por disposición de su superiores dejan la Comunidad de Cerro Alegre, Mons. Luis Sánchez-Moreno Lira, por esos años Obispo de la Prelatura de Cañete, Yauyos y Huarochiri, designa al Padre José Novato Martín García como Párroco y Promotor de los Colegios Parroquiales, asumiendo él la dirección del Colegio de Secundaria a partir del 13 de Febrero del mismo año hasta fines de 1997. Con el Padre Novato los Colegios Parroquiales en su conjunto empiezan a modernizarse e implementarse. Al mismo tiempo, se fueron mejorando las instalaciones de los otros dos Colegios Parroquiales de Primaria y el de Inicial.

El número total de alumnos de los Colegios Parroquiales suman más de 1,500. José Novato, con gran pesar y dolor de todos los que lo conocían, siendo designado promotor de los Colegios Parroquiales el Padre Jorge Peña Bozzo. Alejandro Zelada Villalobos como Párroco de Nuestra Señora de la Asunción de Cerro Alegre, asi como también Promotor de los Colegios Parroquiales. Cada promoción de años anteriores, dejaran una huella, un recuerdo de aquellos días,  como aquellos niños que comienzan su educación como la humanidad comenzara la civilización, es decir adquiriendo grado por grado los conocimientos.

En la que anteriormente nuestro colegio no era más que pequeños cuartos a medio construir, con pocos materiales, a pasar de los años se convirtió en un lugar digno de admirar.
