Then in high school a group of girls asked him to do track and he did it willingly but after the first meet he was no match for the girls and his coach said he shouldn't even of tried. This pushed him, he practiced afterwards all the time he would just run with his brother Pete who helped train him. Soon he good but that wasn't the end he wanted to be the best he kept pushing himself and he eventually was one of the country's best. He was in the Berlin Olympics but he felt short of his dream to get gold he placed 8th. He was sad but still devoted he kept working next time he was gonna place gold or so he thought. But Louie's dreams where crushed when he learned there would be no Olympics due to the War known as World War II. Louie was forced to be a Bombardier in US Air Force and things where running pretty smoothly for him he still got into some trouble but nothing bad. Louie and his crew where placed with the B-24 or "The flying Coffin" due to its very delicate and untrustworthy figure it was known to have a lot of accidents not even in the battlefield. One day another B-24 was said to go down near the Pacific so his crew was tasked to due ocean search and try and find the missing crew. Mid trip there plane has a engine malfunction causing there plan to crash. Only 3 crew members survived the crash Louie, Mac, and Phil. Mac being frightened eats all the rations he did not think they where going to survive long. After doing this Mac tries to bring back his trust with the crew by risking his life to try and help his crew members out. But in the end he starts to lose himself over malnourishment causing Phil and Louie to go out of their way to try and keep him alive. They catch a bird and a shark to just try and help him alive but in the end it only helps a little bit. Then one of the days out on sea they see a plane doing sea search where they waste there flairs to try and get help but when it gets closer they quickly realize its Japanese. It open fires on them over and over until the Japanese crew got tired where they eventually left. Louie had been ducking in and out of the water while getting attacked by sharks to try and get safe from the bullets. Eventually they all check on each other miraculously no one got shot and everyone survived. But there rafts where withered with bullets holes they all worked together blowing air in the raft while stitching the holes and beating the sharks this took almost 12 hours of tireless nonstop work. Finally it pays off and almost all the holes are stitched and they're back on there journey. Eventually on day 47 stranded on sea they get picked up by a Japanese Boat. The boat brings them to native Island imprisoned by Japanese where they brought Louie and Phil to a infirmary to heal them back to health. On the other hand Mac hadn't been so lucky he had died of Starvation out on sea. The Japanese brought them all over to try and interrogate them in exchange for food. Eventually they are rendered useless and where put to death by execution but for some odd but lucky reason Louie and Phil where saved were they where brought to POW camps. Louie was unlucky he was brought up with a crazy Japanese who made Louie crazy he was called "The Bird". Louie was treated horribly there was no humanity in his camp and his camp was extremely secretive so if he died no one would no but his brother in arms he fed against the regulations the soldiers where given. Many died of starvation or execution soon POW camps started to fill up so instead of increasing food given to POW camps they killed all the POW's. The Japanese had no humanity in their actions and this caused men to be driven past insanity. When the war ended and Louie was finally able to come home he was driven so mad by "The Bird" he had dreams of going to Japan and killing the bird. Trying to stop these thoughts he resorted to Alcohol eventually he became a alcoholic. Later after being home he finds a girl named Cynthia and its love at first site they end up marrying and having a child. But due to him being a Alcoholic Cynthia catches him shaking the baby Cynthia being upset files for a divorce. Later after a preacher named Billy Graham comes to his town and reminds him of a bargain he made with god. This reunites Louie with god helping him to overcome Alcohol and forgive everyone who hurt him.
