I’m going to Germany to fight German fighter pilots. I’m a top bubble gunner for a B52 bomber. Were getting shipped out in 2 weeks. I’m at Anderson Air Force base. My friend is in Asia fighting on a F4F Wildcat. The base food is horrible it has no seasoning and is overcooked. The team is a bunch of young kids except for our pilot. His name is James Richardson and is a whooping 48. You know the one, everybody on plane 52 knows. Also on this God forsaken Air Force base. We have been training hard, flying missions, target practice and such. We learned more about our plane and its not good. Three plane crews have died on old Ace. All on the same spot over the little island outside of Italy. The food has improved considering the fact that I’m doing kitchen food. Yep your old boy is on KP cooking steak and burgers. Also we have a basketball court on base now. We survived, which is hard to believe because 15 planes got shot down. My plane got hit 3 times all by flak. Our pilot is quitting after two more missions. This is his 5th tour of duty. Only one plane member got injured. His name is Brady smith. He is the back tail gunner and his from Iowa. Our next mission is in 3 weeks. Our pilot has one more mission left. I met my new pilot today in the lunchroom. His name is Richard Boy.  He flew planes for Britain in wwI on the Sopwith Camel. Our tailgunner is healed for flight and ready to go. Also BIG  NEWS, we got a new plane and named her Betty Ross. She’s ready to fight for freedom. Well wish me luck for our next mission.

We have got hit 3 times by flak. Also we got hit by 24 bullets from German Messerschmitt Bf 109 planes. Our bomb dispatcher broke so i had to mannnulay bring it up and missed our target. Were going to get chewed out when we get back to base. It’s funny I’m not even doing my job. Wait i hear shots and planes. It’s the Germans coming for me. Bye i need to shot Germans. Wait that’s U.S. planes, those are Curtiss P-40 Warhawks. He died from a pierced lung. It took him 13 minutes to suffocate and crash. He had a combined 6 kills in Asia. His unit had their last mission that day too. Were on break to, but not that long. Only 7 days, one week one short week. We do have a basketball court now. The reason those planes fought us was bescause they had a training run. Wait gunshots were under attac.....

The Germans are the ones that attacked us. I pulled a .50 caliber out of a burning plane and began my assault. I killed 34 Germans during that night. Also I shut down 2 incoming bombers. My entire plane crew died. Our break got longer because of needed repairs. We need a new plane because it got broken. It was said to be “ unfit to fly and fight”. I have to sit out three more weeks for a new crew ship. We’re starting  to rebuild our walls and buildings and gates.
