thoughtful and consequential review of evidence.  Through the inclusion of various tables: research design, sampling, measurement, and data analysis; poster contents are expected to provide a foundation that supports the project concept and the hypothesis the proposed hypothesis that immediate bedding will reduce ED left-without-being-seen rates.

Early on, the research design was found faulty and did not support the project as expected. To date, six articles have been reviewed however, there are currently approximately 25 additional article that need to be appraised.  Using the existing tables as a reference point, the remaining articles will be assessed and validated.  Further, a more thorough look of the Grey literature will be undertaken to identify other potential sources of project support.   Changes will be made to the Evidence Table upon concluding these reviews.  ]]> 2018-09-04 01:11:34 UTC https://padlet.com/sjdc09/hsbpx6y1v0jn/wish/277389640 sjdc09 https://padlet.com/sjdc09/hsbpx6y1v0jn/wish/277389945 The purpose of this project is to study the effect of immediate bedding on reducing the left-without-being-seen rate in an emergency department (ED). The PICOT is, “How does immediate bedding, compared to no immediate bedding, effect the left-without-being-seen (LWBS) rate of patients over a two-month period in an academic emergency department setting?” The project is intended to be of a quantitative, quasi-experimental design that will examine data over a period of time in which the emergency department was not using immediate bedding as a tool to reduce LWBS compared to data during a comparable time in which immediate bedding was used as a tool (independent variable) to reduce LWBS. The dependent variables of this project will be the left-without-being seen rate, door-to-provider (DTP) time, and overall ED length-of-stay. Press Ganey scores that rate patient satisfaction will not be considered as dependent variables due to the 90-day waiting period for reporting but offer an opportunity for future study. Literature reviewed in the planning of this project have supported the practice of immediate bedding as a strategy for reducing LWBS rates, as well as reducing door-to-provider time, and overall length-of-stay in the ED.
