The Pilgrims were not happy in England. They were not allowed to be free and as independent as they wanted to be. They sailed to America in hopes to live a better life. They traveled through bad weather conditions and when the Pilgrims landed in America they had no one to help them get settled in and found themselves eventually fighting with Indians over land and crops. Once they made peace and found friends to help them settle in, the Pilgrims had crop and shelter. They were living the independent dream they wished for. They thanked God for all of this.

The puritans of Salem valued their religion. They believed in god not in witchcraft. They thought that by believing in God this would help them achieve their American dream. The Puritans fought to keep witchcraft out of Salem so nothing blocked their beliefs.
