I am grateful to now be living in the United States where access to high-quality healthcare is not as impossible as it was back home. When I started my first year at UCI, I was undeclared with no sense of what I wanted to do with my life. Somewhere along the way I decided to try taking classes for the biological sciences major... Man, was that one of the best choices I ever made in my life. I’ve had the privilege of learning under professors who’ve published groundbreaking research (shout-out to Dr. Hickok) and I’m fortunate to say that I’ve now been published in 2 scientific journals (working on #3)! To think I had started at UCI feeling worthless and stupid for not knowing what I wanted to do for the rest of life to having found my life-long passion

I can also relate to the feeling of feeling useless and like an outsider when I started at UCI as undeclared. Over the years though, I’ve gained my own little family through bio and I couldn’t be more happy in the position I am today
