My parents were together but my mom had Devic's Disease my whole life. I am an only child, so my dad, although he was tough, was and still is my best friend. Unfortunately, my mom passed away when I was 10. My dad continued to raise me on his own when she passed. It is located in the suburbs, but border line to the Far Northeast of Philadelphia. There was little to no diversity in this school, but we were definitely taught about diversities and cultures in high school. I want them to understand acceptance, feel acceptance and be accepting of others. I want to build this foundation of acceptance for their future. I want my students to know that they are a resource or an asset in my class. I want them to teach us about who they are. Most of all, I want them to be open and comfortable in my classroom.
