I realized that there was so much more I could’ve wrote about but didn’t due to time mismanagement. Nevertheless, I enjoyed writing the piece and my partner, Justin, gave me encouragement.

With my saturation paper, I want to focus in on the death of Magellan at the hands of Laplapu.

My favorite piece was my Saturation Paper because it did not feel like an assignment. I was just able to creatively express myself haha.

A piece that taught me an important lesson about the writing process was the writing into the day because it got me to actually write.

A piece that was challenging for me was the demonstration lesson because I was struggling to refine my prompt. It took most of my work time but once I finalized it, I was able to start blitzing through.

I got a great idea for teaching from Christina because she reflected on how important it is to use student’s lived experiences within your lessons.

Marianne taught me something about the kind of teacher I want to be because she is very intentional and helpful.

One thing I learned by creating my demonstration lesson was the importance of scaffolding towards your prompt. If students do not have the proper foundation, then your unit can be a whole piece of crap. Even though it’s tedious, there needs to be systems in place to help students get to where you expect of them in the prompt.

I'd rather not "lecture" or "hold them by the hand" because their learning their own to dictate not mine. The classroom would be composed of a diverse amount of kids of all identities and backgrounds, and each person willing to listen to what they have to say.

The material that they read and write would not be a "distant" act, but one that is personal and relevant to their world and lives. They can take a text like Hamlet and draw connections to their own worries and life complexities.

The school would be open, almost nature-infused with plants and gardens everywhere. At Portola, we already seek to integrate social justice and diversity standards, but I wanna continue this in my future classrooms. For our recent Hamlet unit, I made sure to utilize the community as a resource for learning. For example, we watched an all black cast for Hamlet, while also viewing various representations of Hamlet through other productions and media.

Also, I hope this makes sense.
