What different functions does language perform?
Communicating knowledge, expressing our emotions, signalling danger, building relationships
Which are the most relevant in creating and communicating knowledge?
Spoken language - probably the longest form of communication that's been around. People have been communicating through noises and listening for thousands of years, even before written language was created. By talking to people, we can also gauge their emotions through body language etc.
To what extent is it possible to separate our experience of the world from the narratives we construct of them?
Only the person themselves will be able to have an accurate experience of their own life. You can give people an impression by telling/writing to them about it, but this will only portray one side of the story, one perspective, and not the full experience.

1. Emotional language; written language; communication
2. Shades of meaning; body language
3. We think that only the individual who experienced the experience can fully experience the experience. And when the experience is told, the way it is perceived by the audience is limited and diluted.
4. Spoken language is more flexible and easy to interpret through body language, tone, and facial expression. However, written language can also be interpreted into more detail through the use of language techniques such as metaphors.
