The japanese Americans were interned during World War II because .
Race and prejudice played a major role in all of this; the japanese Americans were no threat yet were treated as such by the Americans all because of the color of their skin quote from persona justice denied document “The broad historical causes that shaped these decisions were race prejudice” there was no real proof that the japanese did or could do anything against america at the time they were just their do to their skin color .We took interned Japanese because we were mad that they bombed us, quote from The report of the commission on Wartime Relocation and Internment of civilians, “Widespread ignorance about Americans of Japanese descent contributed to a policy conceived in haste and executed in an atmosphere of fear and anger at Japan.” americans interned japanese out of fear and possibility of them being with the japanese army quote from the munson report “It is easy to get on the suspect list, merely a speech in favor of Japan at some banquet being sufficient to land one there” knowone really wanted to take chances with the japanese .

The Japanese Americans were interned for many reasons. One reason is their skin color, Many Japanese Americans were sent to camps due to their skin color. It did not matter if they did anything or not. In the Document Personal Justice Denied it states “A grave personal injustice was done to the American citizens and resident aliens of Japanese ancestry who, without individual review or any probative evidence against them, were excluded, removed and detained by the United States during World War II.”. Next there is the fact that there were many corrupt government officials and also hate going against the Japanese Americans. In Personal Justice Denied It also states “The broad historical causes that shaped these decisions were race prejudice, war hysteria and a failure of political leadership.”. Finally many Japanese people also get into camps if they are thought to be helping Japan by sabotaging. In the Munson Report It says “There will undoubtedly be some sabotage financed by Japan and executed largely by imported agents”.

The Japanese Americans were interned during World war II for these reasons. In the munson report its states “The Japanese are hampered as saboteurs because of their easily recognized physical appearance.” This means that Americans at the time were just putting these people into internment camps because of their race. It also is written down in the Crisis article “But the American government has not taken any such high-handed action against Germans and Italians – and their American-born descendants – on the East Coast, as has been taken against Japanese and their American-born descendants on the West Coast. Germans and Italians are “white.” This piece of the text states that the people who were causing the problems who were white are not getting put into internment camps because of their skin tone. Even another reason “The broad historical causes that shaped these decisions were race prejudice, war hysteria and a failure of political leadership.” This text from Personal Justice Denied tells us that the Japanese Americans were put in internment camps just based off of their skin color.

Japanese Americans were interned during World War II for many reasons, some good but most bad. First, the Munson Report stated this: “Privately, they believe that only 50 or 60 in each district can be classed as really dangerous.” They probably thought that was too high of a number and they had to be careful when it came to what to do about the issue. Second, The Crisis Article claimed “Color seems to be the only possible reason why thousands of American citizens of Japanese ancestry are in concentration camps” They are saying that just because the people are Japanese doesn’t mean that they are directly tied in with the attackers of Pearl Harbor, and they are only put into the internment camps because of their skin color. Finally, Personal Justice Denied reported this: “Widespread ignorance about Americans of Japanese descent contributed to a policy conceived in haste and executed in an atmosphere of fear and anger at Japan.” They are saying that people believe that just because Japanese people bombed Pearl Harbor, Japanese Americans will do the same wherever they are. They didn’t care about the Japanese Americans, they just thought they would automatically act like the Japanese pilots.

The Japanese Americans were interned during WWII for a number of reasons. In document C , it states, “Color seems to be the only possible reason why thousands of American citizens of Japanese ancestry are in concentration camps.” Since there was a lot of racism during that time, lots of Japanese were taken into camps because they weren’t “white” and because they are “different”.

Also, in document E, it says, “A grave personal injustice was done to the American citizens and resident aliens of Japanese ancestry who, without individual review or any probative evidence against them, were excluded, removed and detained by the United States during World War II.” Because Japan bombed Pearl Harbor, Americans felt as if Japanese Americans were a “threat” to them and were very angry. Americans decided to take it out on them by putting them in camps or removing them from America to solve it.

Lastly, in the video, the interview from Ken Hirata states, “There was no rioting and there was no sabotage.” While going into these camps, Japanese Americans each got $20,000. Because of this, there was no rioting and no sabotage. In conclusion, this is why Japanese Americans were interned in WWII.

The Japanese Americans were interned during WWII for a few different reasons. The First reason being the US was very careful about what Japanese Americans they saw. After the bombing of Pearl Harbor by the Japanese the US was really worried about some of them that live in the country that they could take over the West Coast. Here is Document D they say, “”He was excluded because we are at war with the Japanese Empire, because the . . . military authorities feared an invasion of our West Coast” If you see the last part it says the military authorities feared a invasion of the West Coast. Next Reason is the Japanese Americans were not really welcomed here. Many people called them names such as aliens. Here in document E they say “Americans of Japanese descent contributed

to a policy conceived in haste and executed in an atmosphere of fear and anger at Japan.” You can tell by the words they use here like haste and executed that the japanese americans were just not welcomed anymore. Finally many japanese-americans were judged based on their skin color. Here in document E they said, “The broad historical causes that shaped these decisions were

race prejudice, war hysteria and a failure of political leadership.” Here you can see they use the word race prejudice which means to act hostile towards another race/color. After seeing this evidence I hope this helps you understand more about why the Japanese Americans were interned during WWII.

The Japanese Americans were interned during World War II because of Saboteurs, Racism and lastly Because of the Americans Injustice . To start off ,Saboteurs were a reason Japanese Americans were interned during WWII. Document B: The Munson Report from Reading like a historian, Says, ‘’ There will undoubtedly be some sabotage financed by Japan and executed largely by imported agents. . . . In each Naval District there are about 250 to 300 suspects under surveillance.’’ This shows the Americans did not know which of the Japanese citizens to trust and who to not trust, since they could be saboteurs. As a result they wanted to be cautious and so they Interned All of the Japanese Americans. Secondly Racism, Document C: The Crisis From Reading like a historian, States, ‘’the American government has not taken any such high-handed action against Germans and Italians – and their American-born descendants – on the East Coast, as has been taken against Japanese and their American-born descendants on the West Coast.’’ This shows racism, even though the Germans and the Italians were a bigger problem On the east coast they were not put in concentration camps because they are ‘’white’’, therefore the Americans were racist towards the Japanese. Lastly, the Japanese Americans were interned during World War II because of Injustice. According to Document E: Personal Justice Denied States, ''The broad historical causes that shaped these decisions were race prejudice, war hysteria and a failure of political leadership.'' This shows Injustice because they judge the Japanese without properly following the procedures, they also had no real evidence against them. It was not a fair judge. In Conclusion, These are just a few reasons why The Japanese Americans were interned during World War II.

The Japanese Americans were interned during World War II because America was under a lot of pressure. The Personal Justice Denied report states “Executive Order 9066 was not justified by military necessity, and the decisions that followed from it—exclusion, detention, the ending of detention and the ending of exclusion—were not founded upon military conditions. The broad historical causes that shaped these decisions were race prejudice, war hysteria and a failure of political leadership. Widespread ignorance about Americans of Japanese descent contributed to a policy conceived in haste and executed in an atmosphere of fear and anger at Japan”. America was in the middle of war hysteria with Pearl Harbor just being bombed and the rapid expansion of Germany with hitler taking over everything, that is a lot of stress and there are a ton of things to worry about. The Munson Report “It is very easy to get on the suspect list, merely a speech in favor of Japan at a banquet being sufficient to land you there. The Intelligent Services are generous with the title of suspect and are taking no chances”. The U.S. is very paranoid and obviously don’t want this to happen again so they locked everyone up. The Personal Justice Denied report also says “Widespread ignorance about Americans of Japanese descent contributed to a policy conceived in haste and executed in an atmosphere of fear and anger at Japan. A grave personal injustice was done to the American citizens and resident aliens of Japanese ancestry who, without individual review or any probative evidence against them, were excluded, removed and detained by the United States during World War II”. This was personal injustice for japanese descendants because they were the same race as the bombers of Pearl Harbor. America didn’t go to this extent for the Germans and Italians in America.

The Japanese-Americans were interned during WWII mostly because of their race and because the Americans might have thought there was a spy. The Crisis Article reports:Color seems to be the only possible reason why thousands of American citizens of Japanese ancestry are in concentration camps. Anyway, there are no Italian-American, or German-American citizens in such camps. They say this because the Americans consider Germans and Italians to be “white”. Ken Hitara says in an interview: “The machine guns were pointed inward instead of outward, I thought they were supposed to shoot anyone who comes in not out”. This means that the government was supposedly trying to “protect” the Japanese Americans even though they weren’t.The Crisis says: Along the eastern coast of the United States, where the numbers of Americans of Japanese ancestry is comparatively small, no concentration camps have been established. This means that the government didn’t care about the Japanese-Americans on the East coast because they were much farther away.
