If I were teaching a U.S. government class, I could assign students to be experts on each of the 3 branches of government. I would separate students into groups where they could research and learn about their branch of government. Then I would separate groups where a representative of the separate branches would come together and share what they learned about their branch. In one of these lessons, If we were talking about Ukraine, we could hold a fundraiser or commodities to send to Ukraine. While this fundraiser is happening, I will be teaching about this topic.
