Mainly, the act of racism are against Tom Robinson. 

The judge's decision, saying that Tom was guilty, is because Tom's color skin. Even with evidence that show he is inocent, the judge appointed him as guilty.

At the same time, many people thought he is a bad person, because he is black.

Arthur Radley, the super round character. When someone ask you about a misterous man in the book, Boo will be the first character that comes into your mind. 

Mainly, Maycomb's people thought he is a mysterious  man because, they haven't see him going out of his house, in addition, there is thought that he had been locked in a basement during 20 years, because he kill his father. At the same time, by leaving objects on a tree, he gave some clues of why he is a round character. By the experience of being black, Tom become one of the most interesting characters. From been a mockingbird, he finsh as a dirty mockingbird, cause of a supposed rape.
