At the start of the internet, people were extremely immersed in it because it contained many different things, and anyone could find something that piqued their interest.

The internet allowed people to find those who had shared interests with them.

You start to change your personality online to adapt to what is expected of you from the media perspective, even if your social circle in social media is only your close friends and family, you feel the pressure to do so. 

Receiving engagement from other people on your social media posts gives you a sense of fulfillment and accomplishment that keeps you hooked in 

The impact that your words will have on others is something many people have to consider, especially if you have a presence on social media

Making a political statement can affect you in both ways, positively or negatively, because it depends on the reader's interpretation, so depending on the statement's goal, the writer has to be extremely sensitive to their statement.

The internet has given a chance for people to reach others more easily in terms of social and civic statements, as it is used by people all over the world and makes it easier for one’s message to get across, rather than, let’s say, calling people one to one

Even then, there is a lot of performance activism rather than true activism that comes out of these statements, because as mentioned in the interview, you want to tell people that you are good, but it does not mean that you will take action, meanwhile, if you were to do this in person it would more likely mean that this is truly something you’re fighting for
