In the scene I believe that there is a shift between passive and active spectatorships as the movement arrives at the bridge. The two members at the front of the march are wearing black and white trench coats that can refer to the theme of equality and how both races should stand together. As they are walking there is a lack of soundtrack which creates a passive spectatorship as it seems relatively calm.

As the fight occurs we generally switch to an active spectatorship due to the fact that there is a more tension due to soundtrack and the action on screen. The music in the scene is actually contrapuntal sound as the soundtrack doesn't fit with the action. This could further relate to the idea that the mass assault should not be occurring.

The scenes soundtrack is almost completely overshadowed by the sound of the chainsaw which represents the discomfort in Ree at this particular moment.
