         <description><![CDATA[<div>South Africa includes the countries of Angola, Botswana, Comoros, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Nambia, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia, and Zimbabwe<br><br>Great Zimbabwe, was founded around 1000, and was a great gold trading empire. From 1200s to 1400s and abandoned in 1450 for unknown reasons.<br><br>Mutapa empire founded by Mutota, who left Great Zimbabwe in 1440, he settled in a fertile vally in the north. The empire declined in 1500s because of European interference.<br><br>South African countries competed with European countries for land. In the 1700s and 1800s<br><br>White govt in South Africa instituted apartheid, which is segregation. In 1949 Nelson madela became a leader and pushed to end apartheid. Apartheid ended in the early 1990s.          <description><![CDATA[<div>1. The Chewa people perform a dance called the <strong>gule wa mkulu</strong>, which reflects their traditional religious beliefs.<br><br>2. The <strong>gule wa mkulu </strong>dancers dress in ragged costumes of cloth and animal skins.  Some of the dancers also wear masks and  walk on stilts.<br><br>3. The Tumbuka people in northern Malawi perform the <strong>vimbuza</strong>, a dance performed by healers who wish to cure people of sickness.<br><br>4. Another dance is the <strong>benji </strong>dance of the Yao people in southern Malawi<br><br>5.          <title>Gold Trade Builds Empires</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>A majority of people living in Southern Africa are Bantu-speaking people, including the Shona people. The Shona established a city called Great Zimbabwe around 1000. From the 1200s to the 1400s, Great Zimbabwe became a capital of gold trade. Around 1450 the Shona people abandoned Great Zimbabwe. <br><br> A man named Mutota left Great Zimbabwe around 1440. He founded a new state to replace Great Zimbabwe. This was called the Mutapa Empire, which was also a major area for gold trade. In the 1500s the Portuguese arrived and interferes with there politics causeing there delcine.<br><br>The Zulu controled a large part of Southern Africa in the 19th century. The British defeated the Zulu in the late 19th century and took over there land.the British battled the Dutch farmers for control of the region and won. This is known as the Boer War. The British formed the union of South Africa soon afterwards.<br><br>In 1948 apartheid was put in place which separated races. Even though blacks made up 75% of the population they received a small amount of land. In 1912 the blacks formed the African National Congress to fight for there rights. In 1949 Nelson Mandela became a leader of the ANC and led a long battle to over turn the apartheid.          <description><![CDATA[<div>by: Jack Wagoner, Braden Durst, Dawson Leipprandt, Noah Campbell, and Andy Sheridan<br><br>1) South African economics are some of the most advanced in Africa; however, many countries are struggling to raise standard livings for blacks due to the policy of apartheid (laws of segregation). <br><br>2) South Africa has great cities, industrial complexes, modern/mechanized farms, and large ranches, but it also has poverty-stricken rural areas due to unequal land, housing, and money distribution by the government<br><br>3) For example, Botswana has a great deal of money from its abundance of diamonds but it has serious agricultural problems and an unequal distribution of wealth. <br><br>4) A minority of the population grows wealthy from diamond money, including farmers<br><br>5) By 2006, the most severe 🤬-affected countries were in South Africa. For example, 25% of adults in Zimbabwe and Botswana were infected with HIV, decreasing the countries’ life expectancies from 60 years old to 39 years old in 5 years. </div>]]></description>

Even with the the meat production increasing, the overall needed food by the population is down 50%.
