Although Robin Williams is known for his funny and positive attitude in movies, he could also play a serious character. Not only that but Williams looks like a guy who would stick with you while nobody else would. Similar to Reverend Hale once he accepted his faults in siding with believing witchcraft. Williams could act as an arrogant, yet intelligent, guy who is curious about his surroundings.

"Counting Stars" by One Republic talks about hope and curiosity. "Counting Stars" illustrates Rev. Hale's actions. For example, "I feel something so right
Doing the wrong thing,
I feel something so wrong, Doing the right thing" explains the feelings of Hale when he stood up for Proctor while no one else did (1:00-1:10).

Reverend Hale's motive in the beginning of "The Crucible" was trying to find the person or persons dealing with the Devil, because that was his area of expertise.
"This is a beloved errand for him; on being called here to ascertain witchcraft he felt the pride of the specialist whose unique knowledge has at last been publicly called for. (182)
In the middle of the play Reverend Hale is realizing there is no Devil in Salem and is motivated to try and help Elizabeth and John Proctor, because he suspects they have nothing to do with conjuring spirits.
"No-no, I come of my own, without the court's authority. Hear me. I know not if you are aware, but your wife's name is - mentioned in the court. (198)
By the end of the play Reverend Hale knows there was no Devil in Salem and doesn't want anyone, especially John Proctor, die for something that never existed. Reverend Hale tries to motive Elizabeth Proctor to save her husband, but it doesn't work.
"Woman, plead with him! Woman! It is pride, it is vanity. Be his helper!- What profit him to bleed? Shall the dust praise him? Shall the worms declare his truth? Go to him, take his shame away! (240)
