When I am making a song I will watch videos of artists breaking down their songs so I can understand more about the structure of a song rhythm and can get new ideas and inspiration for my own.

I Also researched suspended chords before I started the song these chords are widely used throughout my whole song in the intro verse chorus and outro the main suspension chords you can hear through the song are D Flat sus/minor Bsus and Asus.

Here are some quick notes I added when working through my project. On Week one I made the. general structure base for my song with guitar tuned to drop A in the Key of D flat using the metronome to keep in time when I record. On Week 2 I added drums with the logik drummer. Week 3 added a chorus and bass to the first half of my song I also rerecorded the guitar so it will be in time better with the drums. Week 4 I edited the drums to make them fit with the guitar better for example added more fills on the intro triplet on the breakdown and then simple drums on verse and chorus . Weeks 5 and 6 I finished my song by adding the post chorus and outro which I think sound pretty cool as I used the same riff/lick for the intro of the song and contrasts whith beginning and end. I also added bass and synth to the rest of the song to give it more texture aswell as adding a second guitar which start halfway through the bar of the chorus.

The knowledge I have for this project is some music theory I learnt form school aswell as scales. Techniques I have implemented into my song would be chugging(in triplets) hammer ons and pull offs, pitch bends.I have used mix craft in school but in college before to make a song and radio talk show but now I'm using logic its a bit tricky but I will get the hang of it.

Project 1

For my Project I would like to do a tech based project. Through the first seven units I have learned some skills like learning how to use logic pro aswell as make a composition out of an already existing song/Papercut and added a composition to a moving image/Black Hole Movie. I also learned to perform in a band with others on a stage and to preform individualy.

For my project I would like to make a composition using my guitar and experimenting with different instruments and software on logic. My composition would be in the genre of metal and I would need to come up with a chord progression, Structure, dynamics and key signature for the piece that I will upload to Youtube once finished. They resources I will need for this project would be my guitar and logik.

Week 1

I will come up with a chord progression,key signature and structure for the song and then figure out what tuning my guitar needs to be in

I might have to do some research in my free time aswell making sure that the progression and time signature is correct

Week 2

I could come up with a riff or harmony for the song by probably just experimenting and taking inspiration from different songs then record it on logik.

week 3

As I am recording my guitar part I can try to come up with a drum part as it will help me keep in time when recording and playing my parts

Week 4

I can try and experiment with different digital instruments with different digital instruments and effects on logik to see if it fits with what I came up with.

Week 5

I could just keep adding stuff to my song then come up with an ending

Week 6

I will clean up my song making sure it sounds good (eq, panning and noise gate)

Week 7

I will continue to clean up my song and add finishing touches

For my evaluation I will just break down and summarise my research and practical skills and knowledge I will also write about any theory knowledge I have implemented into my project and how a have progressed though my project throughout the weeks.

The song shown above is a song I know and listen too (Distance Is Darkness-As I Lay Dying) I took inspiration from the song chorus and used the same atmosphere and sound too my own without outright copying it.

Here is a screenshot of my work in logic this is a photo of the drummer.They drummer can make beats for you but you can edit them for example I added more fills and complexity to match the guitar on the intro of the song.

I added Bass to the song with the bass player for example for the breakdownI edited the bass so would play triplets to match the guitar and drums. I also make the fill amount 20% and fill complexity to 100% to add texture to the breakdown.
