I definitely like the "Genius Hour" that gives students some choice in their study- but I don't think this idea needs to be isolated to holiday breaks. This is a neat idea for the whole year. I also like the idea of a blog/multimedia project. Students could easily select an artist or movement to research and work in groups (or independently) to create blogs, vlogs or documentaries about those artists/movements. I think maybe I would tweak by finding 15 interesting articles and letting them choose. Luckily in Health when we do projects the students are very creative and this last project I had the students read articles and give the 5 MVP's about that article, in their own words.
