At seven and suffered from a very strong trauma with the death of his brother David and the resulting depression of the mother. When he completed thirteen, he went to study at the Glasgow Academy and subsequently at the School Academy, where he came into contact with the classics of literature before joining the University of Edinburgh. During the university period, he became a theater critic and started to be part of a group of debates, experience that helped him overcome shyness. He soon wrote theatrical works such as "Quality Street" (1901), "What Every Woman Knows" (1908) and "The Admirable Crichton" (1932). The last of this style was called "David" and held it in 1936.

He also specializes in novels that have been very successful in his time. Some of them are: "Auid Licht Idylls" (1888), "A Window in Thrums" (1889), "The Little Minister" (1891) and "Sentimental Tommy" (1896) with the "Tommy and Grizel" (1902), related to what would soon be the character of Peter Pan.

This was, without a doubt, his most well-known work, which was represented for the first time in December 1904, but was named "Wendy", inspiring a girl he knew and who had died at the age of 5 in 1894.

However, as a character, Peter Pan had previously appeared in a short story book called "Little White Bird". This work, finished in 1904, deals with his favorite subjects: the feminine instinct of motherhood and the preservation of child innocence. The eternal teenager was the protagonist of the story, who abandoned his family's home in order not to become an adult. In the Kensington Gardens in London, you can see the statue of the character.
