Students who play games in the classroom get to have fun and experience more collaboration and competition between each other. Using games during lessons can increase student participation, foster social and emotional learning, and motivate students. Not just any game can be used in the classroom. Games need to be planned and integrated into the lesson when they are relevant to the learning objectives. In this website, it explains that games can be used as “Learning in Disguise”, “Bringing Students Together”, and as a “Test and Learn” scenario. Learn how to integrate games into your curriculum by clicking on the link and reading!

Outdoor experiences can support children's learning and development. In both rural and urban schools, outdoor learning can give a new perspective to instructional practices and increase student engagement. In the first link, it describes how a teacher integrated outdoor learning into her classroom. For her, it was easier than expected, especially during the pandemic. The second link provides strategies and resources for outdoor learning. There are resources for benefits of outdoor learning and modern approaches. Amongst those, there are also ideas that teachers can build lesson plans around. There are resources for each subject area and a description of how you can integrate outdoor learning into the curriculum. Spending time outdoors during classroom time can lead to better academic performance, enhanced attention, improved behavior, and increased engagement from the students.

All children can benefit from inclusive playgrounds. An inclusive playground is a play area supplied with equipment that meets the needs of children with a wide range of disabilities. Inclusive playgrounds offer a fun and sensory rich environment where all children can develop physical, cognitive, social, and emotional skills. Sensory play equipment, modified slides, wheelchair-accessible seats for swing sets, and ramps are just some things that are added to a playground to make it inclusive. By interacting with peers who have unique needs, children develop social skills by listening to their peers' feelings and comments. Inclusive playgrounds encourage friendships between different groups of children, which promotes awareness and acceptance of diversity in the community. The link provided gives a great description on what an inclusive playground is, benefits of an inclusive playground, and what is included within an inclusive playground.
