Ryan begins to fear that he is going to have a seizure if he does not have alcohol. He starts to beg to go to the store and claims he is "Dead sober" and he can't focus, think or understand anything. His hands begin to shake and he writhes around, unable to stay still. As Ryan continues to go through withdrawl, he begins to beg everyone for some alcohol, guilt tripping those who refuse to help him. If they continue to refuse, he becomes irratic and starts throwing a tantrum.

Ryans grandfather gives him an allowance of $10 a day, which is enough money to buy himself alchohol. He continues to bring him to stores to get him alcohol and he refuses to say no to Ryan. His grandfather will even go as far, as to defend his enabling by framing it as "love" for Ryan, despite the rest of the family arguing that he is slowly killing him.

Ryan keeps drinking even if he begins throwing up and knows that the alcohol is beginning to damage his body. Alcohol is slowly shrinking his brain as it dimishes his cells and deforms neurons, making his decision making and coordination worse. This does not stop ryan from consuming more alcohol, because his body requires it for homeostasis.

Ryan persistently craves alcohol, even if he gets just a tiny bit to relieve some of the symptoms to deal with withdrawl. The balance of chemicals in his brain has shifted to compensate for his constant need for liqour.
