    This is my partenr Liu Lan. She is from China, and this is her first time coming to Europe and studying abroad for a long time. She told me I can call her Lan or Iris — both names are fine with her. I’m really glad to have the chance to know her, become friends, and learn more about her country and culture.*

    My friend Liu Lan studied English for her undergraduate major, and now she’s studying TESOL at the University of Manchester. She told me that everyone she met there is very kind, and the teachers are really dedicated. Because of the education system in China, she feels that her spoken English isn’t very strong, so she hopes to communicate more with others to improve and grow togethr.

    She's enjoy painting, even though she says she’s not very good at it. She also mentioned that she can’t swim. Her favorite color is purple 💜

    In her free time, she likes to listen to music 🎶 or chat with her friends 🩶

    When she lived in China, she mainly used we chat for everything-chatting with friends, family, and even for school or official purposes.

    After moving to new Zealand and now to the UK she started using WhatsApp and now to the UK, She started using WhatsApp and Instagram more ,since her international friends prefer these apps.

    Jasmine is now good at switching between we chat when talking to her Chinese friends and WhatsApp or Instagram when communicating with international ones.

    The biggest change for her has been the language-she mostly uses English now, even with her Chinese classmates during academic sessions, so that everyone can understand her.

    She also needs to think about the time difference when calling her friends and family back in China, which wasn't something she had to consider before. Through these international experience, jasmine has learned to adpt to different

    Communication styles from the fast, multi China to the more formal and email _based communication in the UK.
