In the 70's the use of the manual typewriter helped students in memorizing where the keys were during a designated class for typing. Students would be tested on their words per minute. With this type writer there is no going back once you made a mistake "you get what you get".

Pay Attention It's Transparent

This Robot looking screen was a projector used in the 70's and 80's. First appearing as a transparent sheet, once brought on the projector all the notes previously taken by the teacher would appear. This allowed students to be given information in a different way. Rather than the teachers facing their back to you writing on the board, they were able to present/read the information facing you. This encouraged students to take notes by focusing on the key points/words. It was important to pay attention before the sheet became transparent again and the next paper of notes was presented.

Computer Room More Like Cold Room

1980's computer class was more of a programming class. With these computers you were given an equation/equations to type in them. You knew you had typed something in wrong if it did not look right; instead of a stick figure dancing upwards they could be facing down (oops you have something to fix). When you got the equation right you felt accomplished. These computers were usually in an extremely cold room because it was important for them not to over heat.

Projectors and the invention of YouTube allowed Teachers to project educational videos or movies with quick access around 2010 (early 2000's). Due to this science videos like Bill Nye and The magic school Bus were captivating students attention; learning about various subjects. A lot of the times used as a reward for good behavior. Once Bill came on you knew it was time to chant Bill, Bill, Bill...

One Game Is Better Than NONE.

Even if you did not enjoy math. These games were captivating well at least enjoyable. Late 90's and early 2000's the games begun... Well the cool ones. Being allowed to play this after all your work was done motivated students to complete their work (even if they rushed through it). Any game is better than no GAME.

Backspace Erase Mistakes

Currently we have access to electronics in most classrooms. Making gathering information faster and more efficiently. Unlike the 70's we have a backspace bar allowing for mistakes to be erased before even seen! Chromebooks, tablets, and smart devices have changed the game. Due to this students have the ability to learn from home virtually and work on online projects!
