The Olmecs were polytheistic, believing in many gods who controlled the natural forces of life. These gods took on human like forms but had a more frightful quality through also showing mixtures of feline, reptile, and bird-like features.

Features of Maya architecture include multi-level elevated platforms, massive step pyramids , corbelled roofing, and monumental stairways. Exteriors were decorated with sculpture and mouldings of Maya glyphs, geometric shapes, and iconography from religion such as serpent masks. Interestingly, unlike in many other cultures, Maya architecture makes no particular distinction between religious and non-religious buildings.

Aztec agriculture featured intensive cultivation of all available land, as well as elaborate systems of irrigation and reclamation of swampland through the use of raised fields known as chinampas they would call it "floating gardens". Rich soil from the bottom of a lake was piled up to form ridges between rows of ditches or canals.

The Aztecs created many forms of art, including jewelry, knives, pottery, statues and mosaics. Mosaics are pictures, or patterns, created from small pieces of materials. The Aztecs used a sacred mineral called turquoise to make their mosaics.

Tenochtitlan, also known as Mexico-Tenochtitlan, was a large Mexican city in what is now the historic center of Mexico City. The exact date of the founding of the city is unclear, but the date 13 March 1325 was chosen in 1925 to celebrate the 600th anniversary of the city. The city was built on an island in what was then Lake Texcoco in the Valley of Mexico. The city was the capital of the expanding Aztec Empire in the 15th century until it was captured by the Tlaxcaltec and the Spanish in 1521.

Most agriculture took place outside of the villages in fields cleared using slash-and-burn techniques. The Olmec likely grew crops such as maize, beans, squash, manioc, sweet potatoes, and cotton.

The Olmec religious practices of sacrifice, cave rituals, pilgrimages, offerings, ball-courts, pyramids and a seeming awe of mirrors, was also passed on to all subsequent civilizations in Mesoamerica until the Spanish Conquest in the 16th century CE.

The Maya had a polytheistic religion, which means they worshipped many gods, including Itzam Na "creator god, Kinich Ahau "sun god", Ah Puch one of several death gods, and Buluc Chabtan "war god. They practiced animism, which is the belief that all things, including inanimate objects, had a soul.

Raised bed farming: to avoid the swampy areas where soil was too moist to grow crops in, the Maya people build raised mounds of ground. They would use not only soil, but woven mats made from reeds to add height and then layer mineral rich mud on top of this. This mud is where they would plant their seeds.
