Responsible - Come to class prepared. Time is used wisely, not gaming on computers. Work is completed/appropriate amount of progress was made. 

Safe - Regulating emotions appropriately. Safe body/hands. Safe words.

-Fill out WITH student (whether mentor or not)

-Discuss scores with students in a growth mindset way

-Safe vs respectful with words: Disrespectful language to teacher or student would be a deduction from "Respectful".

-Threats would be a deduction from "Safe"

-Either way you choose to score, discuss the reason for the score WITH the student

-Once a student is on Breaks are Better, the mentor or counselor will inform the teachers on how that particular student will request to take a break

-A card is suggested through the program, but will be individualized for each student

Find your RED backpack in the classroom. Contents:

• Rosters (Make sure they are up to date)

• Red/Green card (red = missing student; green = you have all students)

• Treats

• Pen

• First aid baggies

• Gloves

• It means stay in your classroom, but do what you were doing

• Downtown will handle reunification-- we just need to get our kids there

If there is a medical emergency:

1. Call front office

2. If no answer, find the nearest radio or MERT member

• Will be checked out in 1st period on September 2 (6th grade)

• September 3 (7th & 8th)

• Chromebook sleeve $10 --> can keep if in good condition, but need a new one if not or a 6th grader

• Send money to the office on Friday, September 5

• Visible and usable (post somewhere)

• Revisit throughout beginning, middle, and end of lesson

• Control groups from gathering in bathrooms to participate in extra-curriculuar activities

Ways to implement:

• Kiosk mode (kids check out using extra chromebook)

  • Click on hall pass icon--> favorite (optional)--> click Kiosk

  • This is nice because they need to use their student ID number, so cannot type someone else's name or override
