Evaluate the extent of political change for women during the 1940-1980 time period in the United States.

Throughout history, minority groups were getting pushed around and being treated as though they don’t matter. Women throughout history were always seen as less than a man. The ideal role of a woman was being a stay at home wife who cooked, cleaned, took care of the kids, and had more kids. Then more and more women were breaking this role and “rebelling”. The Roaring 20’s is a perfect example. Through this time period more and more women were going out and going against what everyone thought was ideal. They would wear makeup, short dresses, and cut their hair short. Then some women got tired of just staying at home so they started getting jobs. Women were getting tired of just sitting back and letting the men do everything. Groups like the Woman Suffrage Movement fought for women's rights ever since the 1800’s. From 1940 to 1980 there was a large extent of political change for women. During this time women were getting more birth control, equality in the workplace, and also the Supreme Court allowing women the right of a safe abortion.
