When answering what a text is I come to believe it is quite simple. I would say a text is a letter, email, or a book. I have recently learned that a text is much more than simple words on a paper or screen, it is essentially anything that could be understood by symbols. Some texts would be consist of street lights, music notes, etc. Now that I understand the elaborative meaning of text, I now see text in my daily life, and I take notice of it. My goal as a teacher would be to introduce the uncommon texts that exist.
