Figurative Language

First "blind as a bat" is a simile. My example is "both Messi the soccer player and I run as fast as a cheetah." Second, "I'm so hungry I could eat a horse" is hyperbole. Figurative Language

First "blind as a bat" is a simile. My example is "both Messi the soccer player and I run as fast as a cheetah." Second, "I'm so hungry I could eat a horse" is hyperbole. My example is " l am the best soccer player in the world." Third, ""we're two peas in a pod" is a metaphor or idiom. My example is "we are two hot dogs in a pan." Finally, " gulp" and "crash"are onomatopoeia. My example is "ding." Simile: Mrs. B. said "I am blind as a bat". This  is an example of simile.

2).

Hyperbole: Mrs.Park said " I'm so hungry I could eat a horse". This is an example of hyperbole.

3).  

Metaphors:  Mrs. Park "said we're two peas in a pod". This is an example of a metaphor.

4).

Onomatopoeia: Mrs. Park was showing Gulp! on a flash card. Mrs. B and Mrs. Bellote bumped into each other. These are an example of onomatopoeia.

5).

Personification: Mrs. Park said "the water is running" this is an example of personification.


Simile is unlike things which a word of comparison such as like or as is used.
 My simile:
 
1). He is as funny as a barrel of monkeys.
2). You were as brave as a lion.
3). Last night I slept like a log.

Hyperbole is an over statement or exaggeration.

My Hyperbole:

1). I was literally starving.
2). The suitcase weighed a ton.
3). He's as skinny as a toothpick.

Metaphor is two unlike things in which no word of comparison is used (like or as).

1). Her eyes were fireflies.
2). Laughter is the music of the soul.
3). My words are chains of lead.

Onomatopoeia is using words that imitate the sound they denote.

1). Bees make a buzz noise.
2). Birds make tweet, tweet.
3). The sheep went baa.

Personification is an idea given human or animal attributes to non-human objects.

1). The traffic slowed to a crawl.
2). The wind howled in the night.
3). Lightning danced across the sky.
