Guatemala tiene influencias en todas las áreas de la cultura maya, la gastronomía no es excepción pues son nuestros antepasados.

Los mayas eran una sociedad agrícola, pero también cazaban, pescaban, cogía la vegetación silvestre, e incluso criaban unos animales.
Los mayas son conocidos como los “hombres del maíz.” El maíz era la base de la comida maya. Era usado para hacer las tortillas, los tamales, y el atol.
