Reflect on the content you have explored related to the revised Bloom's taxonomy. What knowledge is needed for an instructional designer to understand and incorporate the revised Bloom's taxonomy in instructional design for blended and/or online courses? Specifically, what factual, conceptual, procedural, and metacognitive knowledge would an instructional designer need to possess and demonstrate in order to use the revised Bloom's taxonomy in designing blended and/or online courses? Add your thoughts below by double-clicking on the Padlet wall. Please add your name as the title of each note you post to the wall.

Instructional designers need to look at what types of learners will be in their online environment. What types of learners and needs will these students have and what types of materials, webtools, simulations, instructional materials are available to reach these students needs. In addition how can these available tools be used to spark intrinsic motivation in the students in order to get them to ACTIVELY participate in a higher level of thinking based on the material being presented.

Instructional designers would need to know the outcomes of the course and how these learning outcomes could best be taught. Instructional designers could use a taxonomy table. These designers would also need to know how their students learn best and after knowing how the students learn best and knowing the outcomes of the course the designer can build resources to use in the online or blended environment so that the student is engaged and using their critical thinking skills.

An instructional designer needs to know the course objectives and standards that students should master by the end of the course. The use of Bloom's can symbolize a road map for the instruction, so that students aren't just staying at the lower levels (Remembering, Understanding), but move to higher levels of creating new knowledge. While it's important to have students demonstrate their understandings of new content, they quite often find school boring when they aren't challenged --and the Taxonomy shows us important ways to get students more involved and engaged in creation and reflection.
