Creating this zentangle was a refreshing change of pace and it was nice letting my mind wander to create. This can be beneficial for students in order to allow a creative avenue for self-expression, and this is a form of "artistic text" (as seen in Arts and Language Arts curriculum) that can convey their views.

I enjoyed taking a moment to complete the Zentangle. It was surprisingly relaxing. I could see myself using it to get students to unwind. It could also be a tool to communicate/express themselves, which connects it to both curriculums. It could be a tool for transmediation by using patterns to convey a story's tone, for example.

I love how there is not right or wrong way this allows children to express their creative side, even if they feel they aren't artistic, they will be proud of their zentangle. It encourages children to engage in the art curriculum.

Then I added curves and coloured in about every second gap with my black pen.

This activity brought back memories as I would "doodle" around the 3-hole punch during class. It was therapeutic allowing the formations to happen with little intentions. This is great for students because it relieves tensions and stress. This relates to the curriculum because it may express subconscious feelings.

I remember doodling geometric patterns on my notes as a kid. I'm not sure why I did this, I just found it soothing. I feel like the same principles apply to zentangles.
I see how these would be a useful activity in class. They could be used to get students to practice different lines, shapes and textures in visual arts as well repetition and rhythm (from Fundamental concepts for grade 2, visual arts, The Ontario elementary curriculum).

I often find myself doodling when I feel anxious or overwhelmed. This assignment gave me an opportunity to sit down and decompress from the pile of assignments building. Though students may express their stress in different ways, a small relaxing project such as a zentangle may aid in creating a peaceful classroom
environment.

I really enjoyed this exercise because it allowed me to use my creativity in a freeing way. It acted as a destressing tool that was oddly satisfying to make and look at after. I predict doing it again in my own free time and using in a classroom.
