In Illinois, drug crimes are classified in two sections: Mere possession of the drug, and possession of the substance with intent to sell it (More severely punished). Depending on the substance in question, you could get any where from 4 to 50 years in prison as a class 1 felony. On October 17, a woman posed as a drug counselor. The mother of Beh, signed him up with the faker. She ignored him and didn't give him any help. One of them being people found with a lot of drugs and firearms. Many people also got caught trying to get drugs to prison inmates, even a couple of prison guards got caught  giving drugs to inmates. According to overdoseday.com, more people died from overdose than any other year.  The numbers, released, show that there were 1,572,579 drug arrests in the U.S. in 2016.
That's an average of one drug arrest every 20 seconds. Drug crimes are on the rise.

Approximately 100 suspected drug smugglers were apprehended at sea and turned over to federal authorities, said Vice Adm. Karl Schultz, commander of the U.S. Coast Guard Atlantic Area. The inter-agency operation intercepted 27 shipments and five bale recovery efforts over the course of 10 weeks, Schultz said.
The 26.5 tons of cocaine were unloaded in South Florida Thursday and Schultz said the drugs came from several areas of South America, including "the Andean Ridge, Bolivia, Peru and Colombia."
