ENL - I am teaching a new curriculum this upcoming year, so I'll need to do some homework/planning this summer once I can access to my new curriculum.

LRLA- Each year I start day one with a dictation activity as a writing sample for students. This sample is completed with no support and serves as a baseline. I plan to use this to build goals and identify which student I want to use for my portfolio.

I know some common needs around phonics- foundational decoding and encoding, esp. vowels, that they miss out on when jumping into 3rd grade or higher. As we work through a sequence of short vowels, long vowels then digraphs I could build in assessments.

ENL - Selecting the correct number and type of student to consider/gather data for. My district has a lot of student movement, LTELs, newcomers. I need to plan to have some of my potential students leave me.

LRLA: since I teach kindergarten, I will probably choose a writing unit mid year because that is when we tend to see their writing start to take off. I'm thinking narrative writing or possibly nonfiction facts.
