Martin Seligman was born on August 12, 1942. He was a professor of psychology at the University of Pennsylvania. 
Martin is credited as the father of positive psychology. Seligman discovered that when people feel they have no control over their situation, they give up. Seligman’s research mainly focused on depression and finding what makes life worth living.
