This is a digital tool that allows you to create comics and avatars in different scenarios. Apart from fostering digital competence, it also promotes universality and democratic citizenship, since it is a very inclusive webpage.

Concerning the English language, helps students develop their written production. However, it also promotes oral production since if the students are asked to cocreate a story they will have to interact orally in order to reach agreements. Moreover, if the final product is presented in front of the class, or it is left in the classroom's library, it can also make students develop listening and reading comprehension.

Pros:
- Easy to use (intuitive)
- Very inclusive (non-binary, disabilities...)

Cons:
- A lot of the features require payment.

How to use it:
I will use it in my teaching unit to create avatars and promote physical descriptions.

Link: https://app-es.pixton.com/#/

Catchy words is an augmented reality free app that allows teachers and students learn new words in a technological-dynamic way. It combines learning new vocabulary with the movement of the students around the classroom. It mainly forsters the digital competence.

With this app, students need to “catch” letters by moving their phone or tablet around the class. Then, letters appear in the screen, and with the movement of the tablet, they need to put every letter in the right place (which are some floating squares) to create a word. We can use it to introduce and review vocabulary, to practice the spelling of the words and also, to read them.

Pros:
It is very engaging and it makes the students move around. This app is also very easy to use and it helps the younger students learning how to spell words in a more dynamic way.

Cons:
As a teacher, you can’t see what words the students are spelling if you don’t go to them and look at their tablets. So, it’s hard to keep track on the words that they are learning if they don’t remember and share them afterwards.

I would use the app in my teaching unit in order to revise specific vocabulary that we have been going through and that I think that has more trouble with the spelling.

https://twiceapps.com/catchy/catchy.html

How to best explain what this resource is, would be to compare it with kahoot. It can be used for fun, but also to evaluate and assess your students. From simple questions to more complex questions where students need to think about their answers and answer when ready. It is a website that allows you to create questions with 2 to 4 answers. Students have a piece of paper each with their designated QR code. When students are ready to answer the teacher, using their phone or tablet, will scan the class and on the projector, the results will appear in grid format or in percentage of rights and wrongs (with or without student annonimity). How can students answer? Well, depending on how they are holding the paper (with A at the top, B on the left, C at the bottom, and D at the right) that will determine their answer, which will be scanned with the teachers’ phone.

Specific competences:
Ss

In the English Class:

Pro’s:

Con’s:

Example:

Hi, I’m rewriting this post because it won’t let me edit the previous one as I wasn’t signed in before.

Plickers is a website that provides an interactive and engaging way for teachers to assess their students' understanding of various educational topics. Teachers can create multiple-choice questions and print out corresponding "Plickers cards" for each student. The cards have unique QR codes that the teacher scans using a mobile device while the students hold up their cards. The teacher can then instantly see the students' responses on their device, allowing for quick and efficient assessment.

Specific competences:

Critical thinking: Plickers allows students to analyze and evaluate information presented in multiple-choice questions.

Communication: Students can discuss their answers with their peers and the teacher.

Problem-solving: Plickers provides immediate feedback on student responses, allowing them to identify and correct mistakes.

Technology literacy: By using Plickers, students are exposed to technology and can learn how to use mobile devices and QR codes.

Collaboration: Plickers encourages collaboration between students and teachers, which can help improve teamwork skills.

In the English classroom Plickers can be used to work on typical topics related to vocabulary development (students can see the words with contextualized pictures and choose the correct one, or not, and learn it again); grammar practice (through multiple-choice questions focused on grammar concepts, such as verb tense or subject-verb agreement, students can practice identifying and correcting grammar mistakes); reading comprehension (based on a reading in the class, the teacher can use multiple-choice questions to create an engaging and fun way to assess their comprehension of such readings); and pronunciation (as there is the option to record or import audio for the questions or answers, students can practice identifying the correct pronunciation of words and phrases worked on in class).

Pros:
- Engaging and interactive
- Immediate feedback
- Time efficient (quick way to assess student understanding)
- Free
- Easy to use
- Anonymous responses
- Real-time data

Cons:
- Limited question types
- Dependent on technology (mobile device with a camera and access to the internet)
- Limited student feedback (may not allow an in-depth reflection on students’ learning outcomes)
- Limited data analysis (may not allow teachers to track students progress over time or identify patterns in student learning outcomes)

Example of use:
For my intervention I will use Plickers to work on vocabulary and pronunciation revision. Students will have to answer which food picture corresponds to the word or vice versa, as well as listening to audio and having to choose the correct one. I remember this webpage fondly, as I had a great time playing with it.

The main use for this tool is to generate random stories based on the information and words you add to the different slots. At the end of the activity, you end up having a crazy story that may or may not make sense.

Some of the pros I have found on this app are the following:

It is easy to use, it is a user-friendly website, and it is easy for students to navigate and generate stories quickly

It is customizable, as the website allows choosing different genres and themes, which can help engage students.

Some of the downsides are the following:

There is not a wide variety of options regarding the opening scene, the conflict and the resolution.

There is a risk that students may just copy and paste the stories without understanding the underlying elements that make a good story.

Classroom Screen is an app designed to enhance classroom management and promote student engagement. It provides teachers with a variety of tools and resources to create an organized and interactive learning environment.

Specific competences fostered by Classroom Screen include time management, visual communication, and attention regulation. The app offers features such as a timer, random name generator, noise level meter, and virtual whiteboard, which can be utilized to improve students' time management skills, encourage participation, and maintain a focused classroom atmosphere.

In English classes, Classroom Screen can be used in several ways. The timer feature can help teachers set time limits for activities like writing exercises or class discussions, promoting efficient time management. The random name generator can facilitate equitable participation by randomly selecting students to contribute or answer questions. The noise level meter can encourage students to regulate their volume during group work or presentations. The virtual whiteboard can be utilized for brainstorming, vocabulary activities, or collaborative writing exercises.

Pros of Classroom Screen:

Simplicity: The app has a user-friendly interface that is easy to navigate, making it accessible for both teachers and students.

Visual organization: The app provides visual cues and tools that aid in maintaining an organized classroom environment.

Engagement: The interactive features of Classroom Screen can help capture students' attention and encourage active participation.

Flexibility: The app offers a range of customizable tools, allowing teachers to adapt them to their specific classroom needs.

Cons of Classroom Screen:

Limited features: While Classroom Screen provides useful tools, it may not have all the functionalities that some teachers might require. Similarly, the free version does not allow you to use it and then save the changes for the next class: the page you use or write it, will be lost once you close the window. So you have to prepare it in the blackboard right before the class starts and not in your home as you will lose it.

Device dependency: Classroom Screen relies on technology and devices, which can present challenges in classrooms with limited access to technology or inconsistent internet connectivity.

Learning curve: Although the app is generally intuitive, some teachers may require time to familiarize themselves with its features and make the most of its potential.

Exemple of Use:
In the photo you can see an exemple as well as in my blog, in the evidences pictures. It has been of great help for my intervention to summarize how the classes were going to happen and with its corresponding time. This way pupils knew how much time they had for each activity and could see the timer at the same time.

Link: https://classroomscreen.com
