Plus you had someone who  was always on your side. They also would keep you company until you let them go. They were someone who could always play with you and were there to have a lot of fun with you. Imaginary friends can help you cope with hard times, they can go on 'adventures with you'.

When I was one I aleady had a sister, so there wasn't anytime for me to be lonely. I think it would've been fun to hang out with someone and be able to talk to them wherever you go.
