         <description><![CDATA[<div>One positive experience was writing alternative endings to a novel (it was for  <em>The Giver).  </em>Students shared work.<em><br><br></em>Activating prior knowledge for <em>The Crucible</em>. Teacher directed a class of 11th grade boys to write everything they could about the word "witch." This encouraged discussion that connected to the play.<br><br>Fishbowl discussions of books; come prepared to class with questions.<br><br><br></div>]]></description>
