For example when Kirstie's jacket breaks and the button falls off her mom takes her to get it fixed and as they got there found out that the Nazis shut the button shop down. One of the the ways there doing that is shutting down stores owned by jewish people and its affecting everyone. For example in the book they say "The button store was shut down when I tried to replace Kirsty's broken button and it was written in German." This story reminds me of how president Trump is going to not let Muslim people come into the USA and kick some of them out.
