In both "The Outsiders" and "My Favorite Chaperone", a group of people are trying to fit in with another. Both groups have difficulty and face adversities while inserting themselves. In "The Outsiders" Johnny, as a greaser is beaten up by a soc and is left on the verge of death. Similarly, Nurzhan is bullied by other classmates and is lured into a fight where he is hurt. Afterwards, they are both comforted by their friends and stay together. Johnny with the other greasers, and Nurzhan with Maya. These two stories are different because of their groups, and the situations they're in. Maya's family is Kazakh in "My Favorite Chaperone", and Johnny's friends were simply greasers in "The Outsiders".

In "The Outsiders" and "My Favorite Chaperone," a group of people that are some what of out castes in society. Both groups end up doing something wrong and have to find their way around the issue. Also, both groups left their home at some stage in the story. The difference is, in "The Outsiders," the group returned home after murder but in "My Favorite Chaperone," The group of people is a family leaving Russia's economic failure to go live in America where the youngest of the family has trouble getting along with a kid, who seems spoiled based on the text, that mocks him for his poor English skills. Also, "The Outsiders" is a longer story.

Both "My Favorite Chaperone" and "The Outsiders" use a first person POV. In both of the stories, the characters deal with fitting into society. In "The Outsiders", the greasers don't fit in. In "My Favorite Chaperone", Maya has to adjust to America and having to translate for her parents. Maya's brother is bullied because of his name by the bullies saying wrong pronunciations. They are making fun of him based on his ethnic background, and the Socs bully the greasers because they are poor and have long hair. Neither of these characters fit into the society they live in.

"The Outsiders" and "My Favorite Chaperone" are similar because they both have over protective family members in them. In Th Outsiders, Darry is very protective of Ponyboy in the sense that he cares about his actions and that he should always be responsible. In My Favorite Chaperone, Maya's parents are very protective of Maya's social life like who she talks to and after school activities. The two texts are different because they take place in different tie periods. The outsiders takes place in a time around the 1950's where things were a lot different then they are now as to My Favorite Chaperone which takes place closer to our current time.

"My Favorite Chaperone" and "The Outsiders" are similar because they both contain characters who don't know their role in society. For example, in "The Outsiders," the Greasers don't fit in. In "My Favorite Chaperone," Maya doesn't fit in because she and her parents are learning how to adjust to the American ways. Even though these stories share the idea of fitting into society, they also have some differences. For instance, in "The Outsiders," the Greasers don't fit in because of their long hair and lack of money while in "My Favorite Chaperone," Maya doesn't fit in because of her culture and beliefs.

"The Outsiders" and "My Favorite Chaperone" and similar and different. They both are a group/family trying to fit in with the surroundings for example the Soc's and the Greasers in "The Outsiders" and Maya's family and the rest of America in 'My Favorite Chaperone". In "The Outsiders" The Greasers were being beat up and mugged for being the lower class and not having money while the soc's got to live the good life with nothing wrong with it. In "My Favorite Chaperone" Maya is trying to fit in America while the rest of her family is still living like they did in Kazakhstan which had much more traditional values then America does. Even though These story's were completely different in plot and character's they still were similar and different. To wrap up in "The Outsiders" the Greasers had to fight off the Soc's in the city's and in "My Favorite Chaperone" Maya's family had to bled in with the America but this was hard for they due to the fact that they came from Kazakhstan.

"My Favorite Chaperone" and "The Outsiders" are similar because, both have tight families that look out for each other. in "The Outsiders", the tight "family" is Ponyboy and the gang, in "My Favorite Chaperone" the tight family is Maya, Nurzhan, and their parents. In both families they fight a lot but know how to look out for each other when the need it. They know how to come together when they need to in case of a crisis or if something bad happens. Both are great families. :) :)

"My Favorite Chaperone" and "The Outsiders" are similar and different. They both have a group of people trying to fit into a new environment. But they have different reasons for coming and different ways for fitting in. "The Outsiders" try and fit by joining a gang." My Favorite Chaperone" they try to fit in by going to school and after school activities/sports. Their different because "The Outsiders" deals with gangs and what happens when you join/are connected to gangs and the end result. "My Favorite Chaperone" deals with moving to new culture/country. And maya couldn't do what she wanted to do to fit in with the others, because it was against her culture to hang out with an American boy. I think that both the books are great but I would prefer to read the outsiders. So in conclusion I think that they are similar and different in their own ways.

"My Favorite Chaperone" is different to "The Outsiders" by there isn't a feud between Americans and Kazakhstan's, but there is a feud between socs and greasers.
"My Favorite Chaperone" and "The Outsiders" are similar by they are like poor, but not like broke. Also their family is really protective, Darry is really protective of Ponyboy(ex. page 49-50 in "The Outsiders"), and Maya's parents wouldn't even let her go to the dance without a "chaperone" or her brother there watching her.
