I like crime and detective stories the most. I dont have a favorite author, but one of my favorites is Arthur Conan Doyle. I love his series about Sherlock Holmes. Recently, I also read another his book „The Lost World” and I must say that I was really delighted with it!

I recommend the novel „Rutka” written by Polish writer Joanna Fabicka. „Rutka” won the contest for Book of the Year 2016 and it is a book for readers of all ages.

I don't read too much Polish literature, but if I had to choose my favourite Polish author it probably would be Edyta Prusinowska. She's a blogger and a rising writer. She has published only two books for now and I only have read the first one, but I'm planning on reading the second one. Her debut book is "Opowiem o tobie gwiazdom". It's a romance that tells us a story of Pluton and Astrid. They met at a cinema and after a couple meetings they become friends. Later Pluton meets Astrid's best friend - Jajo. They became a really aligned friend group. After some time Pluton tells them that he has cancer and he'd like to go on a trip with them beacuse he thinks he doesn't has too much time left. They spend amazing time together with really special emotions around. I think that this book is really worth of reading if you want to reading a light romance and also have a good cry.

I love horror story... soo much, well I thought that my favourite author "Maxime Chattam" was English but ? no, he's french!
I found him when I was watching a horror stream of Maghla on twitch. Author of more than twenty novel, sold more than 6millions copies in France since these beginning, he's now translated into more than 15 language in the world. He starts to writting horror novels when he was 27 years old, and continuing these career path. Today, in France he is the horror reference, with this novel "le signal" he made a name of himself. If you like horror story, crime, paranormal well never mind, I recommend it to you, "le signal" is one of my favourite horror novel.

My favorite author is Jean De La Fontaine. He was born on July 8, 1621 in Château-Thierry and died on April 13, 1695 in Paris, he is a French poet of great renown, mainly for his Fables and to a lesser extent for his tales. He wrote for example: the Raven and the fox. This book was published in 1668, and there are two sources for this fable: Aesop's version and that of the Latin fabulist Phèdre. This fable tells of a proud and haughty crow perched on a tree and a cunning and flattering fox who wants to take his cheese... Explanation of the moral: We must know how to keep our senses even when someone flatters us and tells us what we want to hear. Wisdom is always the strongest.

My favorite author is Morgan Ortin, a french writer. She is not one of the most famous authors but I love her books. I really like her writing style. These are simple messages that she has put together to form two epistolary novels entitled "Amours Solitaires".
She took all these messages from strangers on her instagram account. These two books are quick reads. They are books that reveal a lot of emotions and unspoken things through those blank pages for example.

Jean-Baptiste Poquelin was born in Paris on 15 January 1622. After studying with the Jesuits, he studied law. But his passion for the theatre was stronger than anything else and in 1643 he founded the Illustre-Théâtre with the actress Madeleine Béjart. Under the name of Molière, and in the company of his troupe of actors, he first performed in Paris. But, saddled with debts, he then performed in the provinces.
After thirteen years of travelling around France, Molière and his actors returned to Paris in 1658. They received the protection of Philippe d'Orléans, the king's brother, and gave a performance before Louis XIV. After playing in the Petit-Bourbon theatre, he moved to the Palais-Royal. There he performed L'Ecole des maris (1661) and L'Ecole des femmes (1662).
However, despite his genius and the protection of the king, Le Tartuffe (1664) and Dom Juan (1665) were banned from performance. Although he resisted the cabals, his failing health finally got the better of him. On 17 February 1673, Molière died a few hours after giving his last performance of Le Malade imaginaire. He was 51 years old. He was buried at night, without a Christian burial, in the Père-Lachaise cemetery.

My favorite french author is Mathias Malzieu.
He is a writter, musician and producer, and is a part of the french rock band Dyonisos.
He is my favourite author because his universe seduced me more than once.
His most famous novel is "Jack and the Cuckoo-Clock heart", wich was adapted on the cinema and which music was composed by Mathias Malzieu itself, with is band.
This book tells the story of a boy who was a cuckoo-clock heart, because his real one froze. But this new heart doesn't allow him to feel strong emotions, in order to keep him alive.
But of course, he falls for a girl, a dancer, and everything changes.
Mathias Malzieu has a writing style just mesmerizing. The poetry is living in every word, every sentence, and the atmostphere of his books are always magical. He makes every little object a living one, and a turning point for the book.
The way he uses metaphorical sentences, turn words into magical things, and gives a voice to the artwork.
It is like his book is a partition, that the words are the notes, and the melody is just incredible.
I advise you to go take a look at his book "Le plus petit ba*iser jamais recensé", which can be traduced as "The smallest kiss ever admitted."

My favorite french author is Maurice Leblanc. He was born in 1864 and died in 1941.
He was the writer of Arsène Lupin ; a famous book series. He wrote many dectective and adventure novels. 🔎
He created Arsène Lupin which is really known in France thanks to the Netflix series : Lupin.
Arsène Lupin is a "gentleman cambrioleur" (a gentleman burglar). Yes, he is a robber but he doesn't use the violence or he doesn't kill somebody to steal something. He use the strategy and his intelligence in order to steal.
I really like the personality, the audacity and the creativity of this character. He is very funny and I like to read his adventures against the detective Ganimard and Herlock Scholmès.
I really like to discover the stratagems which are used by Arsène Lupin to snare his enemies.
In these novels, the author is like an Arsène Lupin friend's . The famous robber tells him his adventures.

My favorite french author is Victor Hugo. It was a difficult choice because I don't really read a lot of french authors. But Victor Hugo is an emblematic author that all of french know. He has done a lot of works like "Les Misérables" in 1862. It's a book that I love. I liked how Victor Hugo has made the story about Jean Valjean and the characters around him like Cosette, Fantine, Marius... The scene takes place in France around 1800. There are five parts of this work. In the first, it talks about a politic aspect of Jean Valjean. In the second, Jean Valjean tried to have a good life. He tried to flee. In the third the scene takes place 10 years later, we discover a familial problem. In the fourth it talks about the reconnection of the familial relationships. Finally in the last part that is the conclusion of the story. The critics of the public were very good. He is reputed to be an indispensable book to read. We have could read this book while the secondary school. I think this book very interesting because there is a lot of action, we don't get bored.

To be completely honest with you, I'm not a bookworm... But sometimes I enjoy reading a sad romance book that makes me cry ! When the mood strikes, I'm sure to read a Colleen Hoover novel. Indeed, the words and lines of this author make me feel a lot of emotion. this fourty two years old American author has a very fine career. Encouraged by her mother, she published 28 novels, seven of which were nominated for the New York Times Best Seller list. Her novel Confess was adapted in 2017 into a series. Her novel Never more, which deals with domestic violence, is in the process of being adapted for film. Personally, I am impressed by her career and very admiring of her success.

My favorite french author is Karine Tuil she was born in Paris on May 3, 1972 . To be honest with you i don't read a lot of french books but i was totally absorbed by her book named "les choses humaines (human things)" i really recommend this one if u like politicals novels!! She made a total of 12 novels and some of them won prizes. Her works have themes ranging from marriage and Jewish identity to detention centers and corporate politics. I personally like engaged novels and I'm a total bookworm so it was really good to see a french woman talking about the need of domination of some men, and how people can hide the truth behind their public image.

I'm not reading many polish books but my favourite is definitely "Nie wiesz wszystkiego" by Marcel Moss. The book on the photo is only part one. The book's about school tragedy - two teenagers, girl named Otylia (she already tried to commit suicide) and boy named Alan (school jock) were found dead. Everything leads to a suicide, everyone thinks Otylia made Alan jump with her. Her best friend Marta doesn't belive rumors. And then...well then someone sents a text about telling everyone the truth (even if not everything is truth). That's how the game begins and that's how first part is done. We can learn more about suicide in part two and three, tho I had only finished part one.
I think if you're into investigations and if you really like thrillers this one is for you!

Our town - Cracow is known as a city of poets and the capital of Polish culture. In XX/XXI century in Cracow stayed Noblists Czesław Miłosz and Wisława Szymborska.

We would like to present a Polish outstanding playwright, painter and poet Stanisław Wyspiański. He wrote symbolic, national dramas in Young Poland age. In his dramas Wyspiański joined the trends of modernism with themes of the folk tradition and Romantic history.

Wisława Szymborska was a poet, essayist and translator. She was awarded the 1996 Nobel Prize in Literature "for poetry that with ironic precision allows the historical and biological context to come to light in fragments of human reality". Her work has been translated into English and many European languages, as well as into Arabic, Hebrew, Japanese and Chinese.

Growing up I’ve always been fascinated by fantasy and time travel. So when my mom gifted me the books: “Rubinrot” (Rubyred) and “Silber” (Silver) I became obsessed. Those two books are the first books of two different trilogies by Kerstin Gier. Kerstin Gier is a very popular german author. She writes mostly young adult just like “Rubinrot” and “Silver”. “Rubinrot” is about a girl called Gwendolyn. Gwendolyn grew up in the shadow of her cousin Charlotte who was destined to be a time traveler like most of the woman in her family. But nothing happens when the time for Charlotte comes to travel in time. What happens instead is that Gwendolyn starts to time travel uncontrollably through time. And so starts an adventure for Gwendolyn through time.

“Silber” by Kerstin Gier follows a similar narrative but this time we don’t time travel we wander through dreams. In “Silber” we follow Olivia or Liv. Liv just had to move with her family because her mother remarried and ones she meets her new step brother and his friends her dreams start to become luzid. She notices a green door which enables her to leave her dream and enter dreams of other people. This trilogy definitely made me fall in love with fantasy all over again. I’m 18 now and I still love to re read these books once in a while they are genuinely the star of german young adult literature.

One of my favorite german books(I don’t really know many🤭) is ,,The Reader”. It was written by the german author Bernhard Schlink and is about a relationship between a 15-year old boy and an older woman.
I really recommend this book because it has a very different romantic storyline compared to other Romance books. Also it represents that the relationship with a huge age gap exists. Additionally I really like that the story is about a toxic relationship caused by miscommunication which is a problem in today’s society.
I really hope more people would appreciate this book.

To be completely honest, I find it difficult to read German books, as I enjoy reading the english ones much more, I think that it is not just me tho.. anyhow, I do read german literature, most often in school, there are some that I really appreciated and some that i vaguely remember, but the two „schoolbooks“ I really liked and still remember are „Der Vorleser“ and „Der Besuch der alten Dame“, I will present the first one tho !
„Der Vorleser“ was written by Bernhard Schlink and even has a Movie adaption, I do prefer the book instead of the movie, just because I liked the way it was written and it was much more detailed in the book in comparison to the movie.
In „Der Vorleser“ a young teenage boy fell inlove with a woman who is about 20 years older than him, they have a sexual relationship and the boy often reads books while she listens to him. The relationship represents the toxic older women, who manipulates the younger boy and his emotional connection to her that lasted decades after she disappeared. She disappeared out of his life and decades later they meet again in a courtroom. It comes to light that Hanna was a war criminal in the second war and the court case/procedure showed that she suffering from literacy but she was too proud to admit it so she went to jail. The book gave some questions and insight for me personally and I think it may also stimulate other brains auswell. :D

My favorite book from Germany is more of a favorite school read. "Emilia Galotti“ is about the bourgeois Emilia Galotti. The Prince of Guastalla has fallen in love with her. To win her over, he has her kidnapped. However, she does not want to marry the prince and lose her virginity, since she was already promised to someone else, who was murdered by the prince, so she has her father kill her. Gotthold Ephraim Lessing, the author, was an important poet of the Enlightenment. He was born in Kamenz in 1729 and died in Brunswick in 1781. I like the book because it criticizes the virtuous bourgeoisie of the time, as the main character's father ends up with a dead daughter rather than a sinful one and kills her. Also, virtue is more important to Emilia Galotti than her own life, which I found very interesting and terrifying. Also, I find this book easier to read and understand compared to other readings in school.

My favourite novel would be „Train Kids“, written by Dirk Reinhardt who is a german author of books for children and adolescents. It‘s a fictinal book which is originally written in german.
It‘s about five teenagers that want to travel from Mexico to the U.S. and cross the border. While they‘re travelling on trains illegally, they have to face many dangerous struggles and deadly situations.
It‘s a very good book for adolescents because it‘s very varied and there are many unexpected plot acts which make the storyline captivating. The author seems to keep the suspense throughout the whole story. Meanwhile the reader can follow the development of the kids and their friendgroup, which really connects him to them.

even though I do not really read in my free time, there was one book i read when I was younger. It’s called: „Der Hexer von Hymal“, which roughly translates to „The Witcher of Hymal“.
It was written by Niels Bernhardt, who previous to writing the book worked in various different jobs. He started working on the book around 2013.
The Story of the book describes the life of a young man, who joins a neighbor of his, who is also a sorcerer, on a journey.
Personally, i liked the book because it seemed exciting and mysterious. Adding to that was the mystery of magic and sorcery, which i always love to know about. 10/10, would definitely recommend it.

Cornelia Funke is a German author of children's and youth literature who was born in Dorsten in 1958. my favourite book by Cornelia Funke is " Lord of the Thieves". It's about a small group of orphans who live in an abandoned cinema in Venice. Their leader is called Scipio and the children call him "Lord of Thieves" because every few days he comes to the cinema with a sack full of stolen goods. The children then sell these stolen things to Barbarossa, a merchant in Venice. Two of the children, Prosper and Bo, are wanted by their aunt, from whom they have run away. Aunt Esther has hired Viktor, a detective, to search for them. He discovers Scipio, the master of thieves, and uncovers the secret behind his success in his robberies. When the children find out about this in the cinema, they quarrel and decide to carry out a dangerous theft without Scipio.
I really like this book because it is suitable for all ages. I like the writing style and the characters, as well as the setting. I highly recommend this book and also other works by Cornelia Funke

I would recommend the novel „Mit dem Rücken zur Wand“ by Klaus Kordon which I read a few years ago. Klaus Kordon is a german author who was born in 1943 in Berlin and who writes novels, stories and poems.

The book is about the fifteen-year-old Hans who lives in Berlin and who experiences the beginning of the National Socialism in Germany (the book takes place in 1932/32). The people in Germany were confronted with unemployment and poverty. Hans luckily does have a job in a factory but he has to struggle with social and private conflicts: His brother is a convinced communist, his sister‘s boyfriend is a member of the SA and his girlfriend is half-Jewess - and Hans right in the middle of it, struggling whether or in how far to choose a side and to face the specific consequences.

The book was very very exciting and interesting to read. It is great to get more knowledge on how the people lived in the National Socialism before the World War ll in Germany and in how far they suffered from it. I really liked the plot, the writing style and the main characters. If you are interested in the German history you should read the whole trilogy!

One of the most recent book I’ve read is “Woyzeck”.☺️

It was written by George Büchner and published in 1879.

He tells the story of a soldier called Woyzeck, who suffers the consequences of his low social status.

He earns money not only for himself, but also for his mistress Marie with whom he has an illegitimate child. The connection of Woyzeck and the pea-identity from the doctor, the prejudices of the Captain (in German: Hauptmann), and the deception of Marie with the Drum-Major (in German: Tambourmajor) awaken mental disturbances in Woyzeck, up to the murder of Marie.

The reason why I would recommend this drama-fragment is the criticism of the social order.

The lower, in which Woyzeck and Marie are also placed, are exploited by the upper with all means. Here Woyzeck himself represents the victim, in which experiments are carried out by the doctor in order to achieve his own success. It becomes clear that each character has eyes only for his own benefits, without considering the consequences of others.

Also, I find it easy to put myself in Woyzeck's shoes in the book.🙈

My favourite german book is „Aromantische Fakten über Jeremy Fragence - von Gruven, Fledermäusen und einem matschigen Interview“ from Herold zu Moschdehner, which is actually a german Podcast, but from this podcast the book was printed. I love this book very much since Jeremy Fragence is my idol since hes the number one fragrence influencer and seeing facts about him is amazing. You learn so much about him and really get to know him as a person and it just gives you motivation to always become a better version of yourself. He always teaches his followers to be powerful and full of energy and in this book its portrait very well, why Jeremy is as powerful and confident as he is. KRAFT, POWER, STRENGTH!!!

„Nathan der Weise“

I don’t read much german literature, but I remember a few I read in school.
A literary drama I liked was Gotthold Ephraim Lessing‘s „Nathan der Weise“. It was first published in 1779 and deals with topics that concern us even nowadays which is the reason I find it very interesting.
Lessing was a major poet in the 18th century but influences german literature to this day.
The drama takes place during the third crusade (1189 - 1192).
The main character is Nathan, a rich jewish merchant, who in the course of history comes into conflict with Christianity and Islam, but also with Judaism.
Lessings criticizes the different religious beliefs and also the way these beliefs are practiced. Even back then, he addressed modern problems and questioned a lot of things, which is the reason I think it’s very interesting to talk about.

“Behind magic windows” - my favourite German book

I haven’t read any German books outside of school in a really long time. But I remembered an author from my childhood named Cornelia Funke and my favourite book named “Hinter verzauberten Fenstern” (behind magic windows). It’s a Christmasstory about a girl (Julia) and her, as she said, “ugly” advent calendar. Behind the doors she opens everyday there are simply just pictures. But when on night Julia looked at one of the pictures a bit too long, she found herself inside of it and inside of her advent calendar. From that moment on Julia went into her calendar every night and helped the people find their prince and went on lots of other adventures.

My favourite old-fashioned german book

Usually when we start reading a book in literature class the story of the book is either not really interesting or often quite tough to understand due to the old language used. You can imagine that reading those books wasn't really fun for me. And when we were told we were gonna read "The Visit" (original title "Der Besuch der alten Dame") I was expecting nothing more than yet another one of those boring and hardly understandable books. However, The Visit actually surprised me as it was quite entertaining with its premise as well as its funny characters.

The Visit was written by Friedrich Reinhold Dürrenmatt. He was a Swiss writer, playwright and painter born in 1921. He is known worldwide for The Visit, but also for The Physicists and he won several awards for his works of literature.

In The Visit, the multibillionaire Claire Zachanassian returns to her old home village Güllen after 45 years to take revenge on her old lover Alfred Ill. She does this by offering one billion to the now very poor village if they kill Alfred Ill and put him in the coffin Mrs. Zachanassian brought with her.

Quite the premise, isn't it?
As I've mentioned, the book really knows how to make use of its characters. It's really funny and interesting to see Claire and Alfred talking to each other, as well as the other citizens.
It was intriguing to learn the past of Alfred and Claire, and the reason why she wants him dead.
Whether the village succeeds in killing him or not shall not be told here though.

So if you're looking for an entertaining, old-fashioned piece of german literature, I'm sure The Visit will do the job.

My favourite greek book

I haven't read lot of greek books, mostly I prefere books written by foreign authors, but this book made me change my mind about releationships and especially love ones.
Μυστικοί αρραβώνες, [Secret engangemets], was written by Γρηγόριο Ξενόπουλο, [Grigorios Jenopoulos] and it was published for the first time in 1929. It is known as one of the most romantic greek books due to the love letters the main characters used to exchange and it is based on a real story between the author of the book and a greek poet ''Θεώνη Δρακοπούλου''. The letters in the book are those the author and the poet used to write to each other.
The story is between a well known painter in Athens and an 18 years old girl, who fell in love and try to ignore the obstacles that try to keep them away from each other. Will, though, these obstacles prevent them from living a happy life or will they bring them more close?

I usually do not read greek books but this one is the exception. I found it in my moms library and i was fascinated by the title and it lived up to my enthusiasm.
Το χαμόγελο του δράκου { the smile of the dragon } is written by Αλκυόνη Παπαδάκη and it was first published in 2018 by DIOPTRA.

The book follows the story of a couple who has just arrive at a village in a greek island with their two daughters. The couple never really fit in the community and most people dislike them however they manage to survive . The story gets really interesting after the fathers death when the two daughters must find husbands due to the strict sociaty that did not let women have their own freedom and choice of marry. Well the one daughter actually did find a rich husband and left Greece.The other one however couldnt find a boy to get married to because of her bad reputation. So her and her mother came up with a plan in order to seduce a rich old men. The plan worked and now the daughter is married but the problems does not stop there. The abused becomes the abuser.

It is a magical book that will leave a bittersweet feeling and actually talks about how you can win even the biggest dragon with just a smile and an open heart. The author engourages people to open their heart to others and to do not listen to the people who say that 'robbers'will get in because the worst robber is you . It is a book that help me realise the worth of life and it now has become a safe place for me i read it when i am sad or disgourage and every single time i learn something new. I recomende it to everyone and i believe it is an easy and realistic book .

Τhe great walk of Peter is a walk in the Athens of the Occupation during the Second World War, in those difficult years of hunger, sitins, curfews, persecutions, with the hope of freedom smoldering somewhere in the background.

I read this book during the confinement of the pandemic. I identified with the hero of the book who also dreamed of the end of a difficult period with limitations and lack of freedom.

German Autumn is one of the best books ever written about the consequences of wars. Stig Dagerman shows the tragic situation of Germany after World War II with impressive artistic skill. Born in 1923 in Sweden and later became a poet, writer and journalist. In the span of five years (1945–1949), he enjoyed success with four novels, a collection of short stories, a book about postwar Germany, five plays, hundreds of poems and satirical verses, several essays of note and a large amount of journalism. He died in 1954. The book gives the reader a deep understanding of the things that make up the history of any war. Dagerman does not simply make a record of his experiences on the ground in post-war Germany, but by combining the journalistic pen with literary virtues he offers an amazing book.

"If there weren't such writers as Daggerman, we might not have known that there is a world with substance, because we wouldn't understand it."

German Autumn is a must-read for anyone interested in learning what great journalism is all about.

1909 was the year that the book called Για την Πατρίδα( For the Fatherland) was firstly published. Even tho, it is Penelope Delta's first work with a novel plot, her literary power and skill in creating characters is absolutely evident.

For the Fatherland brings us back to the time of Basil the second, the so-called Bulgarian killer, when the Bulgarian's,taking advantage of the emperor's absence in Asia Minor, attacked Macedonia. After that incident, Alexios with his beloved wife Thekla will undertake the dangerous mission to convey the message to the Dyrrhachian dynasty to help with his fleet. Adventures, Bulgarian spies and difficult conditions weave very interesting emotions: Thekla's love for her husband but also the devotion of both to the idea of their homeland and their emperor.

It is an amazing book that will leave a bittersweet feeling to the reader. While reading this you can compare your beliefs with the ones that are potreyed in the book. It is one of those books that you need to read so that you can understand the worth of love but also the devotion to your beliefs.

“Konstantina’s web” is a well-known book by Alki Zei( Greek: Αγγελική «Άλκη» Ζέη). It was published in 2002 and it is about the “web” of a thirteen-year-old girl named Konstantina. Konstantina lived happily for seven years in Germany with her parents. After her parents’ divorce, she has to go back to Greece with her grandmother. In Greece she misses her previous life in Aachen, while she feels so bored with her strict grandmother. In fact Konstantina and her grandmother have no essential communication as they rarely talk. She is also having difficulties in adjusting to her new environment. In order to escape her reality she takes a small blue pill that Louminis, the only friend she has, gives her. Now everything is better, she feels better. Unfortunately now she can’t imagine life without her pills. After consuming them she is the happiest alive but after a while she can’t control herself.

The whole story is about addiction to drugs and how it can even cause death. That is why Alki Zei refers to webs in the title. Konstantina is trapped in her own web of problems (drugs, her grandmother, absence of parents, new life from scratch).

Anne Frank was an ordinary girl who had typical ambitions for the future. But because she was Jewish, her upbringing in Hitler's Germany did not bode well for her future. In her diary she recounts her life before the German occupation, along with the changes brought about by Hitler's severe persecution of Jews, the necessity of concealment and the difficulties faced by those who do so, and her eventual arrest and transfer to a concentration camp. I like this book very much because the writing is thoughtful and compassionate and focuses on her life rather than her death as it includes details of other contemporary issues that are relevant to her existence.
