In the novel Delirium by Lauren Oliver, the government and society is really oppressive and controlling. From a young age, kids are taught that love is a disease, and they are given rules upon rules (upon rules) that keep them away from love. For example, the protagonist Lena abides by a curfew and is not allowed to be in the same place as a boy by herself. She also believes that a fluttering heart is a sign of the disease that she has to suppress!

In my book Unwind by Neal Shusterman, the goverment is pretty much incontrol. The parnets that have kids make this desicion to unwind their kids between the age 13-18 years old if they have reached full potential or aren't to their standards. Also some kids are born into being unwind. An unwind is where you get our organs harvested and some person that needs that organ will get your organd. An example is that the protagonist Conner is not to his parents standards because he ditches class and doesn't follow the rules. Also he doesn't do good in school his grades are bad and he doesn't try.

The organization also controls the maze that surrounds the glade, and they control what is sent up to the glade. The organization also can kind of dictate what happens in the maze with the grevers that they made. The perfect world of the people got destroyed when their memory got erased and was sent into the glade, and now they have to work together to get out of the huge maze.

In the book The Knife of Never Letting go by Patrick Ness, the government (lead by the Mayor) is really controlling. At the beginning of the book a war started and wiped out all the women in the town. From there that is when the government took control of every men living in the town. The government gave the people in the town a "germ" which is called "the noise". If anyone trys to escape from the noise the government will be there first ones to find you. For example, Todd and his dog Manchee (the main character) escaped the town of Prentisstown because he was in trouble, and the government in on a chase to find him and his dog.

In the book Unwind by Neal Shusterman, the government and society control the people. The government makes the parents choose if they want to "unwind" their kids between the ages 13-18. The society somewhat controls that because if their kids are not up to the standards or they can't handle them anymore, the parents are influenced in that way to make their decisions. The unwinding process is where the children are not killed, but instead have their organs taken out of them for better purposes, so they can live on. Connor, Lev, and Risa are protagonists that are in the process of being unwound, but they are now on the run.

In the book Feed by MT Anderson people have a microchip placed in their brains which gives them access to the internet through their minds. With that being so people are being "controlled" in the sense that the corporations are able to monitor and completely decide what people buy. The government also seems to have a lot of control on what people are able to see on the feed. With people having access to the internet 24/7 they start to become ignorant, spoiled, self-centered, and greedy to the point where they are easily manipulated. There are also physical defects that appear every once in a while on the head of a person that has access to the feed.

In my book Unwind by Neal Shusterman, the government has set laws that make abortion illegal. However, if you don't want your child then after it is born you can what they call "stork" your child. Storking is when you set your baby on someones door step and now that baby is legally theirs. Now that person has to keep the baby but if they don't want them then they can unwind them. Unwinding is taking all the organs and parts of the body to other people who need it. You can sign your child to get unwind when their in between the ages 13 and 18. The government has brainwashed society, so now everyone thinks this is a normal thing. For example one of the protagonists, Lev, he was born a tithe, which is when you are born to be an unwound. His parents signed a paper for him to get unwound and he is in 8th grade. So he knew sense he was born that he wouldn't live to see high school and this was completely normal to him and to the whole society.

In my book The Selection by Kiera Cass, in my book it is controlled by the government and it is controlled idealistically. From the time children are born they are put into a "cast" based on their families history. If you're a One then you're royal and you have better things than anyone else and you have control over the whole country. If you're an Eight then you're counted as homeless. It is controlled by the government because the Ones are technically the government because they make the rules. It is idealistically run because it is off of everyones mind set. Everyone thinks of people as how much they make or what their job is that's why they are put into castes. For example, the main character, America, is put into the selection to become the next Princess of Illea. The royals are the ones who chose who gets to be in the selection. Everyone else has to wait for the results. If you get chosen to be in the selection your caste number goes up.
