I had a scared mood for Josef's story. . If Josef’s dad showed any sign of mental illness, they would not get to go to Cuba. The word that created this mood:
“The Cuban Doctor was getting closer. Josef had to do something. But what?”. That put me on the edge of my seat!

Well, in Josef's story, when he slaps his father, he thinks to himself, that he was the adult, and that his father was acting like a child. I guess, he felt like he had to do something, and he did it. But, later in Josef's story, the Nazis make Josef lead them to his room for his father. So, Josef's dad remebered when Josef told him that the Nazis would come for him if he did not act strong. Josef's dad is even more fritened, and dissapointed at his son.

It was pitch black all around her, and the ocean was alive. Not alive with fish - alive like the ocean was a living creature itself. It churned and rolled and roared with bubbles and foam” it made me worried for Isabel because I went to the beach once the waves hit me and kept me under the waves so when i read it i was scared for her and hoping she would'nt drown

It makes me feel safe and sad. I feel safe because I am not living in thier time, and not going through what they are going through. I feel sad because they are kids, and they are going through terrible things. =(

on page 146 the part where it says Here he was at the mercy of nature, an invisible brown speck in an invisible black rubber dinghy in the middle of the of a great black sea.If it wanted to,the ocean could open its mouth and swallow him and no one in the whole wide world would ever know he was gone.
And then that's exactly what it did.¨
I mean after i read that i just get chills it just was perfect.
