The author also by doing this shows how competitive Joey and Teddy can both get when around each other. Even though that this happens often they still remain close as best friends.

Mike read it better and intercepted the ball cleanly. ¨Gotta fight for that ball¨ Coach Gilbert said. ¨Gotta want it, eighty one.¨ Teddy put his head down, ran to the back of the line on the opposite side of the field. He didn't realize Gus was behind him until he heard Gus say ¨Remember what Aaron Rodger said to Packers fans that time after he played like his worst game? R-E-L-A-X¨ I cant Teddy said. You know how coach just said you gotta want it? I want it t much. Sure, there’s a half-moon tonight that we can see, but the full moon is always there,” she tells us. “We see the moon because as it revolves around the Earth, only the part facing the sun is visible to us.” The woman stops talking and takes a long look at us. “Most times we only see part of a thing, but there’s always more to see, more to know.” She winks at me, says, “You understand what I’m saying?” The woman is saying this because even though raven and Brooke are technically half sisters they still should act like real sisters to each other. The example the old lady gave about the moon really put into perspective the point that she is trying to make.

¨I walk with Brooke back to our cabin. Our feet break up puddles and stamp the mud with the soles of our shoes. The wind is blowing, and no matter how tight I tie my hood, it flies off. Brooke doesn’t have a hood, hat, or umbrella, so her hair is a wildfire spreading and spreading. The black cottonwood trees with their healing balm release more of their white fluff, making it feel like we’re walking in a snowstorm. Our faces and coats are covered. I am walking fast so we can hurry out of the rain, but Brooke can’t keep up, so I slow down, take Brooke’s hand.¨

¨Teddy took another deep breath, like he wanted to swallow up all the air around them before he said what he was about to say put me in he said.¨ - Lupica Pg. 125.

Basically what is going on is this scene is that Teddy's team is losing pretty badly and their starting quarterback got hurt in week 1 so their had their backup quarterback be the starter for the second game. The new quarterback had already thrown two interceptions one taken back for a touchdown the other gave the other team good field position to score. The score was 14-0 and it was only the first quarter. Teddy knew that he could throw the ball good he had been practicing with his friends. So when he went to go up to his coach the author used a hyperbole to show the reader how stressful the moment was for Teddy. It took a lot of gut for him to do that. This decision that Teddy made also shows that he is a natural born leader and that he has what it takes to be a captain on his team.

I think the theme of the story is to not force people to say things because in the story we saw when Terry asked his dad multiple times to tell him about the disease he had so eventually he started telling him about it. Terry then later felt bad because his dad started to get emotional. In the text it says, Terry felt the fear, and he also felt the tears coming down his cheeks. His hand went across the
table, and he took his father’s hand an held it. It was shaking.¨ This piece of text evidence really shows how emotional the moment was for both Terry and his Dad.

He did not want to sleepover at his friends house in fear that they would get in trouble. So when his friend planned to prank a kid in the middle of the night Ben called his brother to pick him. Basically this is a mirror to me because I am a kid who does not like pranking people or trying to get into trouble because it can result in other consequences.

Ben is a QB and every day him and his brother go outside and play catch. His brother use to be a college quarterback but injuries pulled him down and his dad was a DE end in the NFL just like the author of this book. Tim Green is purposefully basing the book off him. Ben plays football but he is a completely different position that me. I am a center and he is a quarterback but the center does snap the ball to the quarterback. That is why I choose a window for this scene.

In the front, thirty-foot white columns upheld a flat triangular pediment, reminding Ben of the Greek temple he´d seen in a history book.¨ So you can see here the author uses figurative language to better describe Tunas house. He uses a example from ancient Greece because he know most people know what those types of buildings looked like.
