Les multiples visages de l’aviron

La CUD a pris le samedi 2 avril le même engagement avec la Fédération française d’aviron (FFA), autre sport bien représenté dans le Dunkerquois, avec trois clubs (US Gravelines, Sporting dunkerquois et Elan nautique coudekerquois), un stade nautique à Gravelines et le littoral.

L’engagement signé par Patrice Vergriete et Christian Vandenberghe, président de la FFA, prévoit, comme pour le handball, des rendez-vous sportifs de haut niveau et de la découverte grand public. La PAarc de Gravelines accueillera une régate internationale le 22 mai prochain et un match d’aviron France – Grande-Bretagne en 2024. Le championnat de France d’aviron de mer 2024 se déroulera sur la côte dunkerquoise. Le territoire servira de cadre à de nombreux stages pour les équipes de France.

Des découvertes de l’aviron seront proposées aux habitants, quel que soit leur âge.

The canals of BERGUES

Bergues is also a city of water, its many canals allow beautiful walks along its banks.
If you take the rue du quai, you will arrive at the port, the starting point of one of the oldest canals in France, the Bergues canal. It was built in the 16th century to connect the North Sea. It allowed trade with England, but also Holland and Spain. Today, the canal and the port of Bergues have the sole activity of yachting.
7.8 km long, it was dug in the 16th century to connect Bergues, where a port had just been built, to the North Sea. It is one of the oldest French canals.
