There are 6 simple machines, the wedge, the wheel, gear and axel are one, theres the inclined plane, the screw, the pulley and the lever. If there are two or more simple machines in an invention it makes a complex machine. The prism sharpener contains a wedge in the blade and an inclined plane so the pencil fits in the hole and does not break when you twist it and the pencil acts as a screw when you turn it.
