         <description><![CDATA[<div>He was born August 22, 1920 in Waukegan, IL. His father was a lineman for power and phone utilities. His mom was a Swedish Immigrant. Ray was obsessed with magicians. He and his family moved to LA, and graduated from High School at the age of 14, and he started selling newspapers then. In 1947, he began writing. He published his first book, Dark Carnival and that year he married Marguerite Susan McClure, whom he had met in a Los Angeles bookstore. He had 4 kids, Romona, Alexandra, Bettina, and Susan Bradbury, who are all girls. He suffered an illness and was confirmed dead on June 5th, 2012. He wrote 600 short stories before his passing.</div>]]></description>
