Goal for Fall: Develop initial action/work plan & vision

-Andrew to provide background on PA in Travis County

-Review of Active Living Plan (who could present? Can we craft a summary of the ALP?) (Dina- quick presentation!)

1. Meeting #1: Initial convening of core partners

• Build team & trust!/Get to know each other!

• Share background on proposed coalition (e.g. PARD/APH could share some of the work that has already been done (e.g. Active Living Plan; media campaign; UTSPH could share some data on physical activity strengths/disparities within Travis County; introduce the concept of physical activity security and physical activity equity; provide background on Texas Healthy Communities, etc.).

•  Introduce idea of proposed coalition/group- and create initial vision/mission for group? (enlist help of an outside facilitator?)

• Request input as to who else should be invited to group?

2. Meeting #2: Explore further the vision, mission of group & guiding principles (outside facilitator?)

3. Meeting #3: Begin creating organizational structure (e.g. work groups?), work plan for group & timeline (outside facilitator?)

September 2024: First meeting to explore vision, mission & best practices for coalitions - PLUS: Review Active Living Plan (LAUNCH!) (consolidate into high level- APH team can come up with a mini-ppt presentation). Andrew: to share key findings from assessment. Thus, let's build in our prioritization for creating our plan.

November 2024: In-person meeting/lunch (at UTSPH?): finalize mission/vision; continue to develop action plan; begin creating work groups (?).

Spring 2025: Work groups move forward specific actions

• Introductions/Ice-breaker (e.g. what's your barrier with being physically active? What's your motivation for being PA?)

• Community Spotlight/ Sharing Literature

• Discussion= action planning: Work Groups! Possible ideas:

  • "Co-Learning/Research" Work Group: identifying data & moving forward an "Active Living Dashboard", ideas for future research (e.g. "an assessment of PA opportunities on West vs. East side of Austin for children/adults/seniors"), staying on top of literature to share with group.

  • "Communications" Work Group: group-specific communication (e.g. website? newsletter?); exploring ways to promote PA/ (promote existing: Nature Rocks; ConnectATX)

  • "Action" Work Group- guided by our Active Living Plan: (how do we support the implementation of the Active Living Plan?) generating recommendations for strategies to increase PA equity; identifying grant opportunities for PA; developing menu of existing opportunities for PA
