We spend Christmas Eve with my mom and her family. We usually sit with Santa (he visits for the little kids and always walks in the house to Bruce Springsteen's "Santa Claus is Coming to Town"), eat a big dinner that consists of pasta and the "7 fish" (an Italian tradition, although I am a vegan so I do not eat the fish), exchange presents, and then watch a Christmas movie before bed. We wake up at my mom's house and then go to my dad's house. We exchange presents in the morning, ride bikes to my uncle's house down the street, and then enjoy a laid-back dinner with my dad's side of the family at my house. My dad always makes his famous oatmeal-raisin cookies that everyone gobbles up.

Ever since I have been in a relationship with my boyfriend, I make time to go to his house with his family in the morning after biking to my uncle's house. We usually have brunch and spend time with the 3 toddlers in his family. It is very fun to watch them play with their new toys!

As you can tell, I celebrate Christmas. We have always celebrated Christmas Eve with my one set of grandparents (my mom's dad and his wife), because this was also my aunt's birthday! Over the past five years, we have done a homemade gift exchange on Christmas Eve where we pick names and make another family member something homemade! This year I got my dad..I am so excited! My immediate family (mom, dad, sister and I) all go to church together on Christmas Eve. On Christmas Day, we start off by waking up and opening our stockings, and then proceed to give each other presents! We then either drive down to Maryland with my grandma (Mom's mom) to see my dad's family, or they come to us! This year, everyone is coming to us! We will have family from South Carolina, New York, Maryland, and Virginia staying with us!  I am super excited, not only because I haven't seen them since I've been home from Costa Rica, but also because we are going to have one GIANT Gallagher family sleepover. I think there will be 12 people sleeping at my house this year! The food is always homemade and absolutely delicious! On Christmas Day, we do a "White Elephant" gift exchange which is always super fun too :) 

I celebrate Christmas over this holiday break.
