The Book Thief is a historical fiction novel written by Markus Zusak and was narrated by Death. It is about Liesel Meminger, a nine-year-old German girl who was  given up by her mother to live with Hans and Rosa Hubermann in the small town of Molching in 1939, shortly before World War 2. Death calls her "the book thief" because she steals a copy of The Gravedigger's Handbook at her brother's funeral. It was a #1 New York Times Bestseller.

Callie loves theater. And while she would totally try out for her middle school's production of Moon Over Mississippi, she's a terrible singer. Instead she's the set designer for the stage crew, and this year she's determined to create a set worthy of Broadway on a middle-school budget.

My favorite  part was when she was trying to make the cannon to work for the play. It didn't work and she would have to work on it over the weekend.

These book could be good because every school has drama and kids could relate to it.

This book is a fast read and  there's a good lesson behind the book. At least, not until the wishing began, you should be grateful for what you have.

This classic novel takes place in Williamsburg, Brooklyn during the 20th century.  Francie Nolan an 11 year old Irish-American girl's love of reading helped her to escape poverty and the difficult and unfortunate circumstances. In spite of the hardships, Francie finds ways to enjoy life.  This coming of age novel portrays a young girl's determination to overcome life's difficult challenges while living in poverty. This book teaches valuable life lessons and at the same time it is an enjoyable book to read.  I dedicate this book to my mom who grew up in Manhattan who faced many hardships but always persevered and made a better life for her children.
